Facebook Group Organising Fortuna Trip Wednesday, 18th Dec 2024 09:57 The ITFC Fans Page Facebook group is organising another trip to Düsseldorf to watch Fortuna in action against Fürth over the weekend of March 1st.
Fortuna fans have made an annual pilgrimage to Portman Road during their winter break since 2006 and this year will be over for the Brighton game in January.
There have also been a number of return trips made by Town fans to watch the Bundesliga 2 side, as well as pre-season matches between the two clubs, with the Facebook group having organised three previous visits.
Tickets are arranged through the group, but travel and accommodation should be sorted individually, although they will be able to recommend certain flights and hotels.
Full details on the trip can be found on the Facebook group here.

Out of interest how do the fortuna fans manage to get tickets when supporters here can't?

The Fortuna Dusseldorf fans have been coming since 2006 (through the bad times when the club was not doing so well) and I would imagine when the German fans select the match they would like to attend the club will give them a block booking. The Ipswich fans that are now screaming for tickets were only interested in the results on the printer as they come through on Sky Sports and not interested in attending any matches in League 1 and the Championship. Look and see how many will be in attendance for the Bristol Rovers match in January. 15,000 maybe so those screaming to see the Town here is your chance.

It is indeed a scary picture - not an Altbier to be seen

To add, Fortuna have themselves gone the extra mile to make group tickets available for Town fans, recognising the relationship. Fortuna fans have been loyal visitors every January, never missing throughout the crap years.

I’ve been a season ticket holder in the upper north stand for many years as have five other members of my family. Up until last season we had absolutely no one sitting around us but every January the Fortuna fans turned up in their hundreds to support the Town regardless who we were playing, where were the hundreds of people who fill every seat around us now. They weren’t interested in watching Rochdale or Crewe but the Fortuna fans were there so it is only right they still receive a block of tickets for their next visit now we are premier league.

ITFC Sweden fans have been loyally attending matches through the bad times for many years, but they are unable this year to get enough tickets to cover all those who wish to travel (85, I believe) to the selected matches. I think it is especially important to maintain our links with foreign teams, be it Germany, Norway, Sweden or whatever. The answer will be to increase capacity at PR, but that will take time. I live in the UK now and have a season ticket, so this doesn't affect me personally, but I feel for those who can't get a ticket.

Same at every club I suspect, the loyal fans are always there through thick and thin and when success comes the joy ride supporters jump on the bandwaggon and this affects some of those loyal fans, especially those that do not live in the area. I used to attend many games at PR back in the dark days, which for me is an 8 hour round trip. Can I get a ticket for love nor money these days, can I heck. Viaplay and a VPN has sorted the lack of availability thankfully.
