Cunha Banned For Two Games and Fined For Town Melee
Tuesday, 31st Dec 2024 10:26

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has been banned for two matches and fined £80,000 following his role in the melee after Town’s 2-1 victory at Molineux earlier this month.

Cunha was pictured elbowing a member of the Town security staff in the back of the head and then removing his glasses and shoving him in the face in a fracas at the end of the match which also led to his teammate Rayan Aït-Nouri being shown a second yellow card and Liam Delap picking up his fifth booking of the season, which saw him miss the game against Newcastle.

The FA charged the Brazilian with misconduct and that he had acted in an improper manner, a charge he admitted with an independent regulatory commission imposing the two-game ban, which will see him miss the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest and FA Cup tie with Bristol City. Written reasons are set to be published in due course.

The club should seek legal advice about an appeal. The Security Guard should seek legal advice about a civil action. Whatever happened to bringing the game into disrepute. Surely that would carry an extra game ban. A 3 match ban would have seemed much fairer meaning he would miss 2 league games instead of just the one.

Absolute f…king Joke for what he did - £80.000 to him is like a Pint to the Man in the Crowd - and only a two match ban - should have been a Minimum of five matches.
Where is this a deterrent to others ?
The FA are a SHAMEFUL entity - in fact USELESS !

Outrageous.
Absolutely everything about this is just wrong.
What an appalling message the FA has just sent out to players, teams, supporters. children.
Wolves have completely got away with this and it was the second game on the trot that they didn’t control their players after a match too.

Agreed Blueboy and thats a fact!

Shocking, i really cant see how the FA feels this is just?

We have VAR to help keep things consistent we are getting the opposite, never a penalty on sat, i will take it though, look back at the Leicester incident, a stonewall and deemed a coming together. With all the money and everything thats at stake, consistency is the least we should expect! Some of the decisions are insane!

Going on about VAR, there goal clearly offside and took 3minutes to overrule, why?
Its ruining the game, its use should be for clear and obvious!! if it takes that long its not obvious.

I know for a fact the average man on the street could, after training operate VAR in a more consistent manner!

On another note I think our security guy who behaved superbly should be rewarded by ITFC for his calmness and self control in the face of such aggression. He was so impressive.

There would be nothing to prevent a criminal allegation for common assault being made. True, the punishment would be likely to be nominal, but he will have a criminal record to his name and fines to pay. In addition, a civil claim for material damage could also be brought.

Total disgrace. The club should have suspended him before the FA did.

Just imagine if the roles were reversed? I am sure our Town lad would have thoroughly filled Cunha in and probably have lost his job..... Doesn't seem fair to me.

Evan Merson said on Sky today, that Wolves have got away with it and that the bottom 3 clubs won't be happy at all with him being allowed to play on,gaining them 7 points in the process.

I assume the town security member can and should take a civil case of assault against him as well.....

I see wolves fans are trying to say that racist comments were made, trying to justify his bad attitude and actions. It should be at lest 6 league game ban and if unfit should be added on

Duran kicks a water bottle and may get a 5 match ban (for reacting to a questionable red card)

Cunha elbows someone in the head from behind and then grabs their glasses and gets a 2 match ban

How does this make any sense?!
