McKenna: No News on Philogene Sunday, 12th Jan 2025 18:18 Boss Kieran McKenna says there’s no news on the Blues’ stalled move for Aston Villa forward Jaden Philogene.
Town and Villa have agreed a £20 million-plus-add-ons fee for the 22-year-old and the player a four-and-a-half-year deal, with the England U21 international understood to have passed his medical on Thursday.
However, the move is still to be finalised and McKenna said there was nothing new to report after the 3-0 FA Cup victory over Bristol Rovers.
“I still think the same,” McKenna said when asked if the situation had moved on from where it was when he was questioned about it at Friday’s press conference.
“He’s an Aston Villa player, there’s no news, no agreement as far as I know. I’m sure I’ll get updated if anything changes but no updates any different at the moment.”
Despite the lack of movement, we understand the switch is still expected to go through.

ArnieM. It,was announced on this, site 2 days ago, thst all terms had been agreed. And he passed his medical. He wouldn't be having a medical if he hadn't agreed to sign. And thst it was down to paperwork not being completed. That paperwork cannot be submitted to the fa at the weekend. The fa staff won't be working over the weekend so can't be done until tomorrow at the earliest.

Essextractor. Both twtd and this site stated on frifmday that there wqs a delay due to the paperwork not being completed. Why should Ashton tell anyone anything. Not our business. We only need to be told if the deal is done, or not going ahead.

Stato And you think the donacien deal was dine just like that, do you? Had almost certainly been going on for weeks before it was announced. Transfers rarely, if at all, get done in a couple of days.

I personally want people here who want to be here to play for Ipswich Town Not because of how much money we're chucking at them and their agent. Please move on from this one.

It's obvious. They can't complete the paperwork because they've run out of toner.

Here's a novel idea. How about we just wait til MA announces it. Could be loads of reasons , most likely seems Villa holding off til they sign replacement.

Don't know why people are getting so excited about this player been watching too many you tube videos playing against championship teams. The fact is in the games he has played for Villa he has looked out of his depth otherwise they would have kept him as a squad player. The fee is way too high for a player unproven in the Premier league 10 to 15 million is nearer the mark. Jack Clarke was a massive player in the championship but he has struggled with the physical demands of the Premier league i would put Philogene in the same category. I think some people on here have visions of players being better than what they really are let's move on and concentrate on players that are physically up to playing in the Premier league.

Blue56. If he didnt want to be here why would he have agreed terms? Plus, anyone who knows our club, knows they'll only sign players who want to play forxitfc. So clearly he does. Just paperwork needs to be sorted. Have justcsaid on transfer talk on sky,( Monday 12 noon), that the deal is closer to completion.

A potential signing has been holed up in his room in a local hotel since last Thursday, living of takeaway deliveries and being regularly visited by club officials. Hotel staff do know his true identity. The booking was made until Tuesday so maybe a long negotiation was always on the cards.

Given how quickly some of the other deals we've done historically have come together, I'm surprised that this is again taking so long. We must really want him to still be entertaining this, but without knowing the facts, I'd be happy to walk away from this one and pursue other things. I wonder if his agent or whoever is holding this up knows how much this is damaging the kid's reputation, probably through absolutely no fault of his own.

i WOULD PREFER DOAK OR FERGUSON ANYWAY TELL HIM TO JOG ON-----SURELY HE IS IN CHARGE OF WHAT AGENT DOES OR IS HE JUST TOO YOUNG?

Seems to me that Villa are holding it up - not the player or the agent, perhaps until they get their Malen from Dortmund deal agreed?
BerksBlue15 added 14:26 - Jan 13
@Hatman - I thought this when I saw their interest in Malen. But if that's the case, I'd be inclined to charge Villa a late fee. Knock our bid down to the £18m they're paying Dortmund for wasting our time :)

The problem with JP's transfer may lay with the owners of both clubs. We have American owners and Villa have both American and Egyptian owners. Then there is how the Premier League conducts it's business. Town have to stay within the rules. There could be arguments about staged payments and of course exchange rates currently damaged by the labour party. All the basic details of transferring appear to be done. Hopefully the owners will solve their differences before the window closes.

Forget it ! - at £20million it was always extremely unlikely to happen ! But the usuals always get so excited don’t they !!

Broadbent too right the aforementioned party under Starmer the Harmer have cocked everything up !

Ive heard a rumour that due to the cold weather the transfer window might close early but don't quote me on that. I agree with some on here that Doak would be a better signing he's had game time at Liverpool and looked decent hence the asking price and the slight reluctance to sell. Do to our precarious position in the league the really good players are reluctant to come here unless it's on loan of course.

Linkboy how would weather effect window ,just asking not knocking. This attempted deal has been aa pain hope if we get him it proves worthwhile, im not optimistic on either counts to be honest.

Blues1 not entirely true is it! look at Hirst he chose elsewhere and only came here here because it didnt work out elsewhere, so werent his first choice! What we do know is that they are surely looking at other possibilities!
