Al-Hamadi West Brom Move Breaks Down
Tuesday, 21st Jan 2025 19:57

Striker Ali Al-Hamadi’s proposed move to West Brom has now broken down.

As reported earlier, West Midlands sources this morning overstated the progress the move had made with claims he was with the Baggies to undergo a medical regarding a loan.

The Iraqi international had, however, held talks with Tony Mowbray’s side regarding a permanent switch but with no deal agreed between the clubs and discussions regarding the potential move broke down this afternoon.

The 22-year-old has been Town’s third-choice frontman this season but his only starts came in the cup ties against his former club AFC Wimbledon and Bristol Rovers.

In the summer, Al-Hamadi was close to signing for Derby on loan but the move didn’t happen after Town pulled out of the deal to sign Armando Broja on loan from Chelsea.

A move - either permanently or on loan - during January has always looked on the cards with the Blues known to want to bring in a more senior frontman during this window.

Iraq-born, Liverpool-raised Al-Hamadi joined Town for around £1 million from the Dons in January last year and has made three starts - one in the league - and 24 sub appearances, scoring five times. His only goal this season came in the Carabao Cup tie against his old club at Plough Lane in August.

Get him a League 1 loan where he will play. If he goes to the Championship he will end up coming off the bench.

I would loan him out to a mid table Championship team.
Personally i think he has potential, he is still only 22, strikers hit their peak at around 24,25 ish.
Trouble is the Premier is a very unforgiving league and has no room for error.
He may come good, but he place isn't with us in the Prem at the momen.
Good luck Ali.

Carberry. No, I dont come on to call anyone out. But if some1 is gonna constantly post negative stuff, then yes I will do. And my point with you, is you only ever post when you can be negative. If you read my post correctly btw, I didn't actually say he's necessarily good enough for the championship. I said he was brought in as cover at that level. So yes, the fact we got promoted has made him a victim of our success. Bcse he clearly totally out of his depth at pl level.

The lad was purchased at a critical time and was a solid addition with plenty of potential at championship level, unfortunately for him and several other squad members, the leap into premiership level is massive and a step up too soon and too far for some. He would make a good championship striker, and would add character and confidence into any dressing room! Good luck wherever the future holds for this lad

Didn't realise we had so many Iraqi posters on here they've certainly got it in for Carberry one of the few who speaks any common sense and not just happy claps every thing.

Have a look in the mirror blues1, you are constantly having a go at people who post things you don't agree with. It's very sad.

We are not prepared for the Premier league we seem to be getting ready for an assault on the championship league title. As tractorboybig quoted only Delap and O'shea look anything like Premier league quality far too many lightweight players not up to standard im afraid. A mate of mine who watches on Sky said that our players get knocked off the ball too easily. I'd rather be watching football on a level playing field in the championship than being bullied nearly every week. Those who are just here for the ride are not passionate fans and are only here for the Premier league glory and won't be here next season.
