U18s Beaten at Fleetwood Sunday, 26th Jan 2025 10:50 The Blues’ U18s were beaten 1-0 away at Fleetwood Town yesterday morning.
Harvey Currie scored the only goal for the Cod Army, only their third Professional Development League Two win this season.
Meanwhile, 15-year-old Dundalk defender Calum Woods has been training with the Blues this week, having previously spent time with the club in December.
Northern Ireland U16 international Woods, who took part in a session with the Blues’ U21s during his latest stint at Playford Road, has trained with the senior Dundalk squad in pre-season ahead of the League of Ireland campaign, which runs through the summer, also featuring in one of their friendlies.

The owner tbh have done so much good but they and Ashton needed to have started work on youth 3 years ago .

I go back a long way and this is the poorest academy set up i have ever known. In 1970 i was fortunate enough to play against an Ipswich youth team containing Brian Talbot who went on to play for England how things have changed.

It's unfortunate that the books have to balance with the success of the first team now, allowing development of the Academy and training facilities, which will eventually lead to the youth conveyor restarting. However, as much as the current situation with the U18 and U21s are due to massive under investment 5-10 years ago, the reverse will hopefully be true in 5-10 years time.

Edmundo, youth, stadium and women's teams aren't taken into financial fair play. Current owners and Ashton have made decision not to invest. Ashton even made statements to day he didn't think cat 1 was important. Luckily this thought process seems to have changed. But still years behind where we could be, to easy to blame odd owners when current ones have been in long enough
