Walton Nominated For January Save of the Month Thursday, 30th Jan 2025 14:11 Blues keeper Christian Walton has been nominated for the Premier League’s Save of the Month award for January for his stop from Brighton’s Joao Pedro at Portman Road.
Walton, who was also nominated in December for his save from Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, is up against Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest, Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka, who is shortlisted twice, David Raya of Arsenal and Tottenham’s Jakub Stolarczyk.
Voting is open now here and closes on Monday. Fans’ votes will be combined with the choices of a panel of experts to determine the winner, which will be announced next Friday.

@RaymondovicBlue I agree with your top 2. I voted for Walton, but Reya is more at full stretch so I think his is probably better, albeit it looks like he is sighted earlier.

I think the club would have made more of the violent conduct on Walton if negotiations hadn't been underway for Enciso to join us on loan from Brighton. With Pedro banned, Enciso may have been put in their team.

Personally, I'd be continuing with Walton, if it was up to me. Yes, Muric makes some fabulous saves (much like Hladky last season)....but.....Muric isn't very confident with his feet, and so very rarely comes off his line, particularly with crosses, corners etc. Having seen him live and in the TV, he hesitates far too often, then finds himself doing nothing as he is on his heels, at least until the ball hits the back of the net. Walton has a better all round game, and instils more confidence in the defence and me (us) as supporters. Just hope this isn't putting the kybosh on a great win tomorrow. Will it be a Keeganesque 'we will score more than you'....I'd love it if we do. And yes, I will be there again!

Ive read through these comments and im guessing at least 75% want Muric back in goal. Mo too! We are playing in a much tougher league this season and I just can't see the logic of not persevering with a guy we paid £10m plus for over one who couldnt get into our championship team and who has had two contract extensions simply so we can get a decent fee for him. I just don't get it Morsy was right to come out and criticise us for making Aro a scapegoat, I'm ashamed of us collectively for doing that, and I hoep that muscle tear he was originally resred for is now well healed and we will see him back in goal tomorrow. 12 goals in the last three games is no stat for a goalkeeper to be holding his place for, irrespective of the opposition

I don't get some of the comments above, i.e. look at the stats, Walton has conceded more goals, so it's time for Muric to return. I'm sorry, but surely it's the manner of those goals that were conceded, how many were his fault. You could then say O'Shea getting a touch on two of the crosses which then resulted in goals was Dara O'Sheas fault so drop him....nooooo, he's probably been out most consistent defender. Sadly Axel being missing so regularly has cost us more than anything else, and Davis being way too far upfield without the defence shifting across and covering the left. So for that reason alone, it's still Walton for me.

I think he will be nominated a lot more given the amount of shots he's going to face the rest of the season
