McKenna Hopeful Nothing Serious For Hutchinson, But Phillips Looks Set to Miss a Couple of Games
Wednesday, 26th Feb 2025 23:14 by Kallum Brisset

Town boss Kieran McKenna says he’s hopeful Omari Hutchinson has not suffered any serious damage following this evening’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United, while also providing an update on the absence of Kalvin Phillips.

Hutchinson was on the receiving end of a high challenge from Patrick Dorgu which resulted in the Dane getting sent off following a VAR review, but was able to continue into the second half.

“I’ve not heard from the medical team in terms of anything, but we’ll have to assess it,” McKenna said.

“It’s obviously heavy damage on his shin, but he managed to play on for a bit, so you’d hope there’s nothing serious, serious, serious there, it’s just the heavy impact that he received.”

Phillips was not involved having been withdrawn during Saturday’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur with a calf issue, with the Town boss previously unable to rule the Manchester City loanee out of featuring at Old Trafford.

McKenna says the Blues will assess Phillips over the coming days but may not be fit in time for the upcoming matches against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

“Obviously his injury from the other day that meant he wasn’t available,” McKenna said.

“Again, to be honest, we’re not sure on timescales. Not a very long injury, but we’re not sure over the next game or two whether he’ll be available.”

Time for the local journos to ask the tough questions.

Why if you know utd are good at set pieces. Did you assign philogene or cajuste to mark their best defender

Why wait until 81 minutes to bring on a striker

Why wait until 92 minutes before you put on another goal scorer

Why have you signed a bunch of lightweight players then bemoan the physical nature of the league.

Who targeted the signings made as they don't suit your system

It was a nasty tackle, but the lad didn't mean anything by it. Hopefully nothing too bad.
As for Phillips, is he actually capable of staying injury free? How many times is that already this season?
Overall we have invested poorly and waited too long to change the calamity keeper.
Yes there is still a long way to go and points to play for etc, but where are those points coming from?
More to the point, how long are Gamechanger going to sit back before they act? We know how twitchy these Americans can be.
KMC is still learning, the players are young and also learning.
Maybe it was too soon?
Either way i think we are down now.

Alpha whiskey not sure about Calamity Keeper !!!!! Are you referring to Muric Walton or Palmer ??
The stats arent good for any of them so maybe it’s not just a keeper problem or doesn’t that fit the narrative ?? A keeper can only do so much as he’s only part of a defensive unit.

Afraid journos can’t ask awkward questions for fear of being barred from future press conferences

No keeper can perform with a bunch of manikins in front of him I didn't think it could get worse but then i witnessed a performance lacking any passion or commitment from Godfrey were they booing him or Maddison.
