Town are now 12 points from Premier League safety after Wolves beat West Ham 1-0 at Molineux this evening.

The 17th-placed Old Gold took their points total to 29 with Jørgen Strand Larsen netting the game’s only goal in the 21st minute.

Town are 18th on 17 points with Wolves also having a goal difference superior by 17.

The Blues, who have just nine games remaining, travel to 10th-placed AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday with Wolves at Portman Road on Saturday.

Nothing we didn’t already know. Difficult decisions to be made if we want to continue our journey.

IThe last 2 seasons have been brilliant but it was always going to be a massive task to stay up and relegation is now almost a certainty. Please Kieran - let's try a different formation and play Liam and George up front together and who knows we might actually win a game

That's pretty much it then. A miserable season finishing with a whimper. I'm sure next season will be more enjoyable and hopefully we'll come back stronger

Well on the up side we can hopefully look forward to some competitive games next season As much as I knew it would be hard to survive this season it's been a bloody painful experience.

Well what a great season for the Premier League 2024/25!
We are just into April and the three relegation places are all but confirmed.
Liverpool are the champions elect!
Three of the champions league places are all but nailed on!
Which leaves the minor issue of the lesser European places, not a lot for Sky to get excited about is it!
Well done Gary Lineker for getting out at the right time!

Congratulations to the ‘Premier’ League for creating a closed shop where the rich are getting richer, bring on the Championship and some proper football..

We have not been relegated since Southampton we still had 42 points to play for after that game and still have 27 points to play for, we have 9 games and Wolves have 8, yes we need them to lose 4 and we need to win 4 and draw 1 and then match them which based on being only team not to win is unlikely but is doable still, its on Mckenna now, and we have to cement third bottom in case Man City go down, not great but possible.
Wolves on paper should lose away to Man City, Man Utd, Palace and hopefully us plus they have homes against Spurs, Brentford, Brighton all vying for Europe.
I think if we beat them on Sat they may get 2 more points a draw at Palace and a draw with Leicester but let's say they get 4 more points that's them finished on 32 points so we need 16 points to go point ahead in 9 games which considering we only have 17 now is laugable but teams do it, we have to basically get at least a draw tomorrow, beat Wolves, get a draw at least from 1 of Aresnal, Newcastle, Chelsea, then beat Everton and Leicester away Brentford and West Ham at home.
That's 17 points and we would top Wolves, they are all teams aside Newcastle we have done well against so we might aswell go for it.
I agree we should try 2 up top but that only works with a flat back 4 who stay back in a 4-4-2 which I think that will shock opponents, of course if Delap gets a card he is out but we can't worry about that, best scenario is he gets a card vs Wolves and banned for Chelsea & Arsenal.
4-4-2
Has to be imo
Palmer
O'Shea
Burgess
Greaves
Townsend
Cajuste
Enciso
Hutchinson
Phillogene
Hirst
Delap
I dont think he ever play that though but I think be good.
He should if not 4-4-2 play a 4-3-2-1
Palmer
O'Shea
Burgess
Greaves
Townsend
Cajuste
Enciso
Phillogene
Hutchinson
J Clarke
Delap
Go 1-0 up subs on 5 at back shut shop.
Down to you Mck let's see what you got left in the locker, time to show us what the new signings can do in the positions they were bought for, flat back 4 and attack.

What are you talking about Bluenomad? Southampton aren't relegated yet either. Or if you were being ironic they've basically been relegated since November?!

Can't wait to get out of this rubbish rigged league and back to exciting games like many of those in Leagues 1 and 2 tonight (Crawley v Peterboro looked the pick tho Swindon v Wimbledon must have been pretty crazy). Let's prepare by throwing off the shackles and having a bash at Bournemouth tomorrow - quite looking forward to going down there now there's zero pressure on it.

We are not relegated if Man City get their just deserts a 40 point deduction. Let us win a few of the last few games to secure 18th place and hope justice is down. Fair enough we have not been a strong team to compete. This is a project and we will cheer the team whatever the circumstances.

It is what it is; we're 12 points behind Wolves in 17th, but we're 17 behind West Ham in 16th, so like it or not, we are well off the pace of what is required to be a sustainable Premier League club at the minute.
Wolves had a bad start, morale was low & O'Neill seemes to lose the dressing room, but just like Crystal Palace, the quality was there to get their act together on go on a decent run - they have 13 points from their last 7 league games, which includes a 1 goal loss away to Liverpool. Can we honestly say that we ever felt we could do that, at any point of this season, especially now at this stage when the chips are really down?
Unfortunately, the gap to 17th is only likely to get wider before the end of the season, although I wouldn't rule out a result on Saturday.
But we did brilliantly in getting promoted last season, and give hope, not only to ourselves in bouncing back, but to other clubs, thinking that they can break the 3 up/3 down yo-yo stranglehold on access to the Premier League.
We will be stronger & better prepared next time, just like Bournemouth & Fulham were following their first season up relegations in recent years; this has been a tough experience, but certainly not a waste. I can't get on board with the 'Can''t wait to go back down to a proper league' mentality, we have to have the mindset of 'Can't wait to get back up & have another go at proving ourselves at this level'.
Also, getting promoted has been a very useful achievement financially, and in putting the structure of the club well ahead of the timescale envisioned. The money already received, what is even to come from (probably) finishing 18th & the parachute payment next year, all give us a massive advantage over most of the Championship sides, especially if Sheffield Utd, Burnley & Leeds go up. This season has not been a negative for the club.
Plus I got to see the new Spurs stadium & have a pint of lager filled up from the bottom of the glass - what a time to be alive.

Whats all this rubbish with waving the white flag and giving up? Dont often agree with Leejames but at least he remains a supporter with an attitude and desire to win! I do fear we are down and thats it, but as for giving up no way, we must keep fighting for every point, we knew ( the realistic ones) how hard this was going to be! We must finish the highest of the 3 promoted teams, there is still pride too play for!

I'm just going to enjoy the last nine games, take each one as it comes. If the boys show some fight and some entertainment, compete as well as they can, then that's good enough for me for the remainder of the season COYB !

Are you seriously suggesting that it is "rubbish" to recognise the reality of our situation? If we fail to win tonight & get beaten by Wolves on Saturday, we will still not be mathematically relegated; would it be 'rubbish white flag raising' to concede defeat in staying up then?
I'm all for taking the positives of our Premier League season, wanting us to finish as well as we can, & held out hope when it was looking bad, but was still realistic, however to not acknowledge the significance of last night's result for Wolves, along with their current form, is bad enough, without berating fans & questioning their attitude for merely noting the obvious.

What a rubbish league where the winner and bottom three are more or less decided on the 1st of April.
Something has to change, If Leeds, Sheff Utd and Burnley come up you know that at least two of them will go straight back down, probably all three if I'm being honest.
Wolves had a poor season but they are still streaks ahead of the promoted teams.
Its just not sustainable anymore.
You cant compete with squads worth half a Billion.
Promoted teams cannot spend 200+ million to try and compete as they will get deducted points.
Going forwards it will be three teams from nine or so swapping places and going up every other season etc etc. with maybe an outsider now and then.
The three relegated teams will come down with decent squads and money to reinvest in decent Championship players and managers. They will be able to attract decent players and pay the wages.

Burnley, Leicester, Southampton, Leeds, Sheffield Utd, Ipswich, Possibly Luton if they stay up, Possibly Birmingham, Sunderland and a couple of others.
The Championship will end up like the Premier league. with a big top six teams battling it out each season. The only difference will be the play offs which will be a lottery.
Its not over yet by a mathematical standard, but by a realist standard it is well over.

The Championship will be a far better league to watch and compete in than this corrupt, biased, boring, fake league. Big clubs are protected and favoured over 'smaller' clubs.
The Premier league isn't what is was when I remember our last promotion in 2000.
Its dire and good riddance to it.
Maybe next time we may be a little bit better off to compete, who knows.
I'm sure Leicester and Southampton fans will agree.

I remember in the summer last year I got speaking to some Sheffield Utd fans on holiday.
They congratulated me on our promotion and said to me, enjoy the new grounds and watching the world class players etc, but the Premier league is corrupt and rubbish and its depressing watching your team get battered every week.
The said they were looking forward to the Championship.
How right they were!!!

Pride to play for now. Let’s at least finish above Leicester and Southampton. There’s always the possibility of Man City’s points deduction. We were not out of place in the PL for the first half of the season but defensive frailties have cost us dearly. We will come back stronger and wiser and imo our owners will still back us.

IpswichToon added 09:48 - Apr 2
We could literally double our points total for the season and it likely wouldn't be enough. Although anything above finishing bottom is a great achievement for the club in reality! After all, not only are still playing catch-up with club infrastructure, but half of our squad we obtained in League One. It was great to see back-to-back promotions, but there's just no way in this day and age that you can survive a PL season after two straight promotions. It was a good effort though.

I'm hoping Mr. Ashton's plan for relegation works out for us and we can be a strong Championship team next season.
