Lunchtime Release For EFL Fixtures
Tuesday, 22nd Apr 2025 17:02

The EFL has confirmed that its 2025/26 fixtures will be released on Thursday 26th June at midday.

Town are all but certain to return to the Championship and will learn their schedule for the 2025/26 Championship season, which gets under way over the weekend of 8-10 August, at lunchtime on the final Thursday in June, a departure from the usual 9am release.

Fixture Release Day will also incorporate the draws for round one of the Carabao Cup and the Vertu Trophy group stage with both taking place live on Sky Sports News, the former at 4.30pm and latter at 2.30pm.

If Town finish 18th in the Premier League, then they would get a bye from round one of the Carabao Cup if an odd number of teams qualify for European competition.

Another time change to suit Sly Sports. I'm sure they'll turn it into the usual circus.

Basically pointless, given how Sky schedule EFL matches these days. So many likely to change.

Never understand the anger about sky changing fixtures etc, we certainly don't mind the millions they give us nexyear on year,

Agree kesblue. It all boils down to money for the players, managers, parasitic agents etc. The leagues could have every game at 3 on Saturday and 7.45 tuesday/Wednesday as it used to be when I first went to a game but tv etc wouldn't pay much and players etc would be paid much less.

I personally can't wait. I can't wait for football in this country to implode and the money men leave the leagues. It will happen eventually, and then we might just get a more even playing field. And 3pm Saturday kick offs.

Reality is that TV money is a big source of revenue and if we want to keep within FFP and not have to sell off the better players we've signed it is necessary. Not saying it's right, that's just how the system works. We're likely to be on TV a lot next year having shown we're good entertainment, well supported and with the recent PL exposure.

Always lots of anger for Sky Sports but they can't do anything without the agreement of the EFL. The EFL have sold their soul to the highest bidder who happens to be Sky. Blame the EFL.

Highwoodsblue. Ur kind of right, but also kind of wrong. The efl really had little choice but to agree. Bcse if they didn't, clubs wouldn't have enough money to run as they do even now. And if you think it's almost impossible for anyone to compete if they get promoted now, as has been proven this season, it'd be a darn sight harder if the sky money didn't come in for the efl clubs. In fact, I'd suggest they may as well do away with promotion/relegation if the sky money was ever to be withdrawn from the efl. And I'm pretty certain none of us would want that.
