Ex-Town Loanee Andrews Now Strong Favourite For Brentford Job Friday, 13th Jun 2025 12:23 Former Blues loanee Keith Andrews is now an odds-on favourite with all bookies offering prices on the Brentford job, Town boss Kieran McKenna having drifted out overnight.
Andrews, the Bees’ set-piece coach, was one of two notable members of the Brentford staff not to join departing head coach Thomas Frank at Tottenham along with assistant manager Claus Nørgaard.
Last night, following confirmation that Frank had taken the Spurs job and Brentford head of coaching/assistant first-team coach Justin Cochrane had joined him as his assistant, Blues manager McKenna was odds-on favourite in the early betting.
However, that appeared to have little behind it beyond speculation, while reports elsewhere linked Burnley manager Scott Parker.
This morning, however, Andrews has moved to the head of the pack, priced at 9-1 on with SkyBet and Paddy Power, and 9-4 on with William Hill and 6-1 on with Bet365.
McKenna has drifted to 10-3 with SkyBet and Paddy Power, 7-2 with Bet365 and 13-8 with William Hill.
Former Republic of Ireland international Andrews was on loan with Town from Blackburn Rovers in the first half of 2011/12, scoring nine goals in 19 starts and one sub appearance.
The 44-year-old hasn’t previously held a manager or head coach’s position but was reported to have been interviewed for the role at the MK Dons, one of his former clubs, in April.
McKenna committed his future to the Blues on a couple of occasions towards the end of the season.

In the PL 'a club on a downward cycle now' means 15-17 place.

Blueboy showing his total ignorance of how the football pyramid works yet again. Perhaps he should listen to Ashton and how the restrictions affected our attempt at survival. Blueboy just go & play with your weiner

Teachers. So,by ur way of thinking, any manager who has a failure in the pl one season( or any lge for that matter), should not get another chance. Wouldn't be enough managers to go around on that basis.

Honestly not that bothered if McKenna goes or not just hope it's sorted quickly .... I'm not even sure if i want us in the premiership, a good championship team that competes great atmosphere, no VAR, great away days....... Compared to getting promoted, losing your teams unity, signing a load of over rated players at extortionate prices, getting thumped every week, then those said players leave when you get relegated and your left with a shell of your former team. Honestly not intrigued by the prem anymore!! If I was chaplin, broadhead, Burgess, Clarke of want to leave aswel. They were the guys that got us to the prem, we may aswel have just gone with the same team, not spending a penny and kept that team spirit alive, doubt we would have ended up with fewer wins

Cadiar. We can measure that, strip away the emotion. What we spent, our legacy accounts, and what Ashton says, they don’t hold up to even basic scrutiny. PSR actually worked in our favour, because we still had a league one season, and league one P&L, and a season with a championship P&L at the lower end. That was a HUGE advantage, and why we could spend more than the other promoted sides combined, who had premier league wages still in the books. We spent more than those sides COMBINED. We spent more than ANY promoted side in the history of football, even more than Forest, and the owners flew in from the US to guarantee Mvkenna that investment, and make him one of the better paid managers in the whole of Europe. We spent £150 million, and a lot of that could be liabilities against championship revenue if we aren’t successful, and that really will be a problem. How much we spent is again evidenced by the club taking the Delap profit through 24/25, so clearly we are right against PSR, which isn’t what he says publicly. There’s zero chance our owners would have spend more than they did, it’s a huge investment, generational spend and world class support. They haven’t had good value, and clearly we’ve been poor in getting value in all areas. It’s not conjecture, the finances are measures, you can view them through blue tinted glasses .., but the reality is the mk ey we spent is eye watering. Ashton needs to be more candid.., he thinks fans are stupid, we aren’t!

there are a lot of experts on here and while i have an opinion i am not and i accept that i am not an expert. KM and MA made mistakes for sure but i cant understand why our resident experts think staying up should have been a formality? the task was bigger than i expected i thought that and i hoped we could have got 17th spot but 17 teams were better than us and by quite a margin, massive ask when i think to be ready for premier football a team needs to be built up over a period, certainly longer than a couple of seasons, to go from crap league 1 side to a team that competes in the premier! That said do i think KM justified his 6th highest paid wage? no i dont! He needs to repay the faith shown in him and in my opinion shouldn't even be talking to anyone else, his focus should be here and nowhere else, we had all this crap last season! We have a big season ahead and work on that should be full steam ahead! Good luck to Keith Andrews!

Darkhorse28. Every time you post u speak even more drivel. So psr worked in our favour did it? How do you work thst one out? Lge1 has nothingcto do with the psr. Tge psr in the pl is totally separate to the ffp in the efl. Even the championship ffp works differently to that in lge1, with lge1 being based on percentage of income spent on wages, whereas the championship is based on incomings and outgoings. The pl psr is a totally different thing, which is why the pl weren't able to punish leicester this last season. As for it benefiting us? How do you work that one out? Our budget was less than any other club, including the 2,that came up with us. And we spent pretty much up to our limit. And no, they're not crap players. Maybe if you knew anything about football, ud realise how difficult it would have been to try to integrate that number of new players into the side, in the hardest lge in the world. What are you on about, they took the delap profit? No, we had no option around the delap deal, or we wouldnt have got him. And actually Ashton has pulled a blinder by getting a sell on clause in the deal for him going to chelsea. Bcse normally when there's a release clause in a contract, thats literally all u get. But you just keep slagging the club off. It's all ur interested in doing. And no, we arent struggling with psr at all. Still jabe some leeway, and will have even more now the delap deal is done.

Reuser2000. If you think we should have just kept the same squad for last season ur deluded. We'd have been down by Xmas. Fans keep golfing on that we lost the team spirit. Clearly we didn't, or we wouldnt have been as competitive as we were in most games. Was only a handful of games that we were outplayed, and looked low im confidence. So clearly the spirit was still there. Andcthsts down, more than likely, to the criteria the club jabe for signing players. The fact we'll only sign players that really want to play for us, not players who just want a pay day or want to use us as a stepping stone. That's an important part of getting a team spirit within a squad.

More likely he will be promoted to lead coach or assistant manager. Im guessing they want some level of continuity with the players & coaching staff. He is obviously very highly rated.

Very little experience so would be a surprise choice but then again but that also applied to McKenna when he was appointed and look what he has achieved. I quite like to have managers appointed within the club the players obviously like him and respect him and things can carry on as normal without to much upheaval. Appoint the likes of Keane, Gerrard, Rooney etc they can come across as being bigger than the club especially in the case of Keane. The spirit at Ipswich is obviously very good and going by the atmosphere at the last game ninety nine percent of the fans are behind McKenna. Can't wait to get back to proper football again role on June 26 when the fixtures come out.

One thing is consistent on here - the same Excuse makers for Failure - time after time, after time. That’s the one Club constant for sure. You don’t need me to name them - they do a fine job of Self Identification in excuses, and expecting so little. That’s one of the reasons why we may well never see our previous Club success achieved again.

The Brentford v Ipswich match was a must win game. Instead when 11 v 11 we had Cheatin' Lewis-Potter getting one of our own Harry Clarke sent off on his PL debut for an unappealable second yellow. A lot of the issues came after that when we no longer had 11 on the pitch. That game, in the crucial 1st half of the season where we needed to pick up three quarters of our wins, will be a factor in KM's thinking. Why go to a team of cheats? A whole squad of players who don't match the character of the squad he's trying to build at ITFC. That Brentford away game, when we were not yet injury ravaged, yes we had brought in Muric, but I cannot remember a more significant game over the whole season as to how the Premier League chews up an honestly built team and spits it out Brentford were 3rd/4th division not so long
