Trabzonspor Concerns Over Tuanzebe Injury Record Thursday, 19th Jun 2025 14:25 Trabzonspor are concerned by Blues defender Axel Tuanzebe’s injury record, according to a Turkish report.
On Tuesday, the Süper Lig side’s president Ertugrul Dogan confirmed his club’s interest in the 27-year-old, whose Town contract is up at the end of the month.
Now, according to Milliyet, one potential stumbling block is the DR Congo international’s injury record.
Last season, Tuanzebe made 20 Premier League starts and two sub appearances for the Blues having suffered a freak hand injury and hamstring issues over the course of the campaign. Prior to joining Town, he had missed almost the entire 2022/23 season and much of the previous campaign due to injury.
It’s reported that should Trabzonspor look to progress their interest in Tuanzebe they would give him a comprehensive medical check before committing to sign him due to their concerns regarding his injury history.
Town have been in talks with Tuanzebe regarding new terms for some while.
The former Manchester United man has been a key man in the Blues side over the last couple of seasons after joining following his release by the Red Devils and his departure would be a blow, especially with Cameron Burgess, Town’s other senior player out of contract this summer, having already moved on to Swansea City.

What the hell are you on about Dissboy. Just because Brentford are interested in him doesn't mean he wants the Brentford job. Chelsea, Man Utd and Brighton were interested in him last season and he didn't go. Why? Because he wanted to stay at Ipswich. Crystal Palace were interested in him the January before that and he didn't go. Why? Because he wanted to stay at Ipswich.

Baxterbasics I have heard from a reliable source that he has spoke with Brentford, let’s not forget he has form for this kind of thing , first Palace the season before last, Man Utd Chelsea and Brighton, the last window, I can’t help feeling he will go if offered another position back in premier league! I stand by what I said and I will repeat it. I don’t want anyone at the club who is not 100% committed to the project here at town.

Get paid when you are fit to play, that would soon put him off signing for another club

I wonder why AT would even consider going there, apart from he possibly just wants a new challenge at this particular time in his career. It's not because he'll be playing in a better league than the English Championship. If you look at the current Opta stats for the top 30 leagues in the world, our Championship is joint 6th, the Turkish Premier League is 20th. Trabzonspor average home attendance is around 17, 000 or so. Take Galatasary and Fenerbahce out of it and it would be a lot worse, the side finishing 3rd this season were 20 points behind Fenerbahce in 2nd, who themselves were 11 behind Galatasary. I doubt there'd be little improvement, if any, in salary either.

(1) he’s out of contract in a week or so, (2) he’s decent but injury/accident prone his entire career, (3) we have two other left sided defenders who are good enough for Championship although AT is prob #1 pick when fit, (4). After all above considered, club offered him a new contract anyway. But (5) he hasn’t signed which suggests he wants more money than we can afford, and/or he/his wife don’t like Suffolk life. (6) so he clearly isn’t 100% committed to us so (7) it feels like, if he does stay, it may only be because he hasn’t received a better offer. (8) my guess is we’ve seen his last game for us so we move on and prioritise signing midfielders !! Anyway if he plays for DRC we’d lose him for a month or more at next Afcon.
