Six Clubs Eyeing Hutchinson - Report Tuesday, 24th Jun 2025 17:40 Everton, Brentford, West Ham, Fulham, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are all reported to be eyeing Blues forward Omari Hutchinson.
The 21-year-old has done his reputation no harm with his displays at the U21 European Championship in Slovakia, helping England to a semi-final against the Netherlands in Bratislava on Wednesday evening.
According to a rather speculative piece in the Daily Mail, those performances have attracted the interest of the Toffees, who are said to see him as a target, while the Bees, Hammers and Cottagers and Bundesliga pair Dortmund and Leipzig are all monitoring the one-time Arsenal academy youngster’s progress.
Town, who earlier today secured key defender Dara O’Shea on a long-term deal, will want to keep hold of Hutchinson, who signed on a permanent basis from Chelsea last summer for a club record initial £20 million plus a further £2.5 million in top-ups.
However, the matter may be taken out of their hands if a club - and whether there is anything in the clubs currently linked it seems likely there will be those interested this summer - matches the £35 million relegation release clause included in the five-year deal the Redhill-born attacker signed last summer.

This is the player I really don't want us to let go, he has developed well but playing on the left for England has really shown what he can do (KM please note!). I understand the financial pressures, so if he does go hope we get a price that reflects his potential.

£35 million is a hell of a lot of money for a young player who certainly has masses of potential, but who did not really set the PL alight. I just wonder whether anyone is willing to pay that much. We shall see...

Can't understand some of the comments on here. Club has NO choice. If the clause is triggered, he can go, and he will. £35m is a lot of money, take it. And I don't get the Philogene comments either, not least of which he plays in the Left and Omari on the right. Ogbone will be first choice with Wes behind him when hes fit, Johnson can cover there too. And they will all have a proper pre season, not 3 days and "off you go".

If someone comes in with 35 million for him I'd snap it up he had a good loan spell but apart from possibly 3 or 4 games last season Hutchinson was very poor and very lightweight so in January what do we do going sign another very lightweight player in philogene who in my opinion we wasted 20 million on when we should have improved our strike force I hope philogene proves me wrong but on the viewing I see last season I'm not gonna hold my breath

Good if Hutchinson is still with us and hopefully he will take advice on what is best for him at this stage in his career. As for Philogene, for goodness sake give the lad a chance. He only had cameo roles so far too early to make a considered judgement. I remember some on here being critical of O’Shea early on and look how how he turned out.

Think we are being a little unfair to Philogene….he did very well in the Championship…..the step in to the Prem was too early for him and for that matter a few others A season in the Championship may make Philogene more prepared for the Prem. KnK and the team now know what’s needed 12 new players trying to bed in was too much but now a year of knowing each other so will be pushing at the top of the Championship. 4 or 5 players of quality in key areas and if Town go straight back up they will not only need a few new faces to strengthen as the Morsy and Burns etc will I expect be let go. Can see Town being a Brighton Brentford type side as it moves towards conquering the world Sorry got carried away ….maybe the Prem

Im sorry but philogene's lazy disinterested attitude is there for everyone to see... and his ability is questionable at best

As most have said I´d be gutted if he left us this window, but he never really covered himself in glory. Can we please put the release clause on these young british talented players higher the 30plus mil???? its peanuts for the premier league clubs and top champions league foreign clubs. A hefttier price along with sell on fees is what we ought to be doing. Burns was woeful in the premier league so much so I actually felt sorry for him, embarrasing.

Ebantiass, ill leave the Burns comment alone, I think thats a little extreme but emotions run high after a poor season. On the issue of release clauses, I think you will find those are heavily negotiated and the agent will only agree to what is considered a sensible level., or what has been agreed elsewhere Our policy seems to be twice our transfer fee paid up front. Delap's was £30m, (we paid £15m) and we paid £18m up front for Omari. To me, a double your money clause feels like good business. We also need to remember that those clauses for the others, Greaves, Clarke etc will be the things that probably scare people away at this stage and are a major factor in keeping our younger players, still developing, largely together
