Cajuste Set For Besiktas Medical
Sunday, 6th Jul 2025 09:26

Former Blues loanee Jens Cajuste is reportedly been given permission to travel to Besiktas by his parent club Napoli with his switch to the Turkish club all but confirmed.

TWTD was first to reveal that Besiktas were leading the chase for the Sweden international’s signature just over a week ago.

Now, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal is done regarding the fee and payment terms for the 26-year-old.

Besiktas are understood to be paying an initial €1 million (£863,000) loan fee with a €6.5 million (£5.6 million) buy option said to be mandatory in some circumstances.

Cajuste impressed for Town while on loan during 2024/25 and the Blues were keen for him to return, but with manager Kieran McKenna having admitted at the end of the season that “there’s probably a lot to do for that to happen”.

A number of clubs are understood to have made offers to the Serie A champions and Cajuste but with the very substantial wage package at Besiktas trumping the other contenders, including the Blues.

Italian sides Udinese and Fiorentina are among those understood to have shown interest, while French clubs and Premier League clubs Aston Villa, Burnley and Crystal Palace were linked, although some of those speculatively.

The Gothenburg-born midfielder, who has three years left on his contract, isn’t in Napoli head coach Antonio Conte’s plans.

Cajuste made 26 starts and seven sub appearances for the Blues during 2024/25, scoring once, and was beaten to the Supporters Player of the Year award by Liam Delap by only 36 votes.

Not sure why negative comments about him on here. He was one of our only prem quality players last year. Fitness really improved. Was okayed terribly out of position and not suited to our system in any way. Basically was our only midfielder for most of the season. Quality player and one of only a handful of players strong enough for the league.

He couldn’t have had that many offers if he’s chosen the Turkish League. Average attendance of two men and a dog.

Virginal, did you actually watch him play? He made one of the tackles of the season can't remember who against buses was generally very sound defensively unlike Davis & Greaves.

Boys of81, the Turkish league is a very tough one, the supporters are mad, noisy & dangerous & some clubs get huge crowds, don't understand estimate it.

Wonder if he will pass the medical? He failed one at Brentford before we signed him and had to nurse him through the season.

Enough already. 3 of the 7 stories have been about him. Time for us to move on, there are plenty of other players to look at and we obviously weren't on his radar.

Last post I'm ever going to make on this subject, but it's an interesting situation, assuming Jens passes his medical of course. He wouldn't be going there for the upgrade in quality, as I've posted before, the Turkish Premier League is 14 places behind the English Campionship in the Opta Standings. Besiktas average home attendance last season was pretty much the same as ours, and in one or two recent seasons it's been a lot less than that. However it appears they can meet wage demands, etc, which is interesting.

Of course, also as I posted before, he might just fancy living in and around Istanbul, a vibrant and exotic city that's the crossroads of Europe and Asia, and I honestly couldn't blame him for that. He's had a colourful life so far, and he might be someone who just likes new challenges and new places, and I wouldn't blame him for that either! So whatever happens, I wish him the best of luck for the future, and who knows, our paths may cross again one way or another in the future.

Maybe the lure of European football tickled his fancy?

Rolls royce of a player, never going to last a rigorous championship campaign though, move on now FFS!

lol. Making one good tackle (that was so good you can’t remember who it was against) does not make him a decent DCM. The first goal at Leicester is a perfect snapshot. Slow to react, didn’t track back, should have dragged Justin down, didn’t, and we conceded.
The transfer market looks like it agrees.

The fact that he's going for 6 million says to me that nobody else was that keen on him.

I believe, this is a little bit boring. Good luck, bye.

I wouldn’t blame TWTD for persistently publishing pieces about Cajuste, with regard to the goings on at ITFC, it’s all they’ve had to write about.

Just over a month to the start of the Championship season. Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t we going to the Austrian training camp very soon. Any new recruits, for obvious reasons, would surely have to be signed before departure.

Perhaps it’s the Club World Cup that is causing a rather stagnant situation at ITFC at the moment as far as new signings are concerned. Perhaps once that competition is over, we will be bringing in a few PL players on loan! I sincerely hope so, because in my opinion, although we have some good quality in the squad, there are also areas that are now looking very vulnerable.
If these areas aren’t strengthened, then I fear this campaign will be a far more difficult one for us than those bookies are predicting.

Further to my post above, it should be remembered that the transfer window does not close until the 1st of September. However, the season will be nearly a month old by then, and a lot can happen between the start and when the window closes.

Because the club is in limbo, the current squad has the mindset for promotion but an incoming signing is concerned with playing time. Although JC is affordable the prospect of playing in Champ didn't stir him. Therefore high quality loans are the likely option. We can name five loans per match squad. Therefore expect late transfer dealings. CH, EB and AH can stake a claim before loans are engaged.

Such a slow transfer window we're having to read reports of ex-loan players moving.

Great player, looks silky going forward but I’m not sure he is strong enough. I don’t think he had the physique to play in the midfield in the PL.
I think he would be kicked and out muscled in the championship.

Patience people - it's important not just to get people in but the right people as next season will be very tough. Here are some reasons why it won't be a walkover: Soton, Leicester, Sheffield U, Birmingham, Coventry, Boro, to name just some. But equally, these teams will be looking at us and thinking that we will be difficult for them. Let's just take it as it comes.
