Blues 'Closing in On' Cajuste Return
Saturday, 2nd Aug 2025 13:49

Former Blues loanee Jens Cajuste is closing in on a return to the Blues, according to reports in Italy.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a successful spell with the Blues in 2024/25 and the club made no secret that they would like him back again for the campaign ahead, although while admitting it would be a difficult deal to do.

Earlier in the week, it emerged that his parent club Napoli were in talks with Saudi Arabian side Neom regarding the Swedish international, Burnley having previously been front-runners, Cajuste having previously put a move to Turkish side Besiktas on hold.

The Blues have maintained their interest through the summer and having looked outsiders for his signature, now appear to be close to bringing the midfielder back to Suffolk with reports that a €1.5 million (£1.3 million) loan fee plus a €7.5 million (£6.5 million) permanent deal if Town are promoted back to the Premier League has been agreed with the Serie A champions. A contract which runs to 2029 is said to have been provisionally agreed.

Cajuste, who has three years left on his contract, isn’t in Napoli head coach Antonio Conte’s plans.

The former Reims man made 26 starts and seven sub appearances for the Blues during 2024/25, scoring once, and was beaten to the Supporters Player of the Year award by Liam Delap by only 36 votes.

ArnieM what an idiotic thing to say, arguably our best signing last season was the unproven Delap! Everyone team is looking for a decent number 9 , hard to come by you know!

ArnieM. There are very few facts in thst post. Just the usual ramblings of fans with no idea. If you think you could do a better job at getting players in, I suggest you offer ur services. And what striker were you hoping for? Isak? If you bothered to look around, most clubs are struggling to bring me in a striker. And u do realise Ashton doesnt deal with the recruitment of players,at the club? Of course not. ( only part he plays is the negotiations of the contracts). Just love to blame him for everything.

We need him.
He could do a lot worse than sign for us.

ArnieM. Oh forgot. You like many fans, myself included have wanted us to look abroad for players. Now we are, ur moaning about that too? Never satisfied.

This place makes me laugh. How many teams get relegated from the Prem and strengthen their squad? Yet that seems to be the expectation here. Usual doom mongers who seem to want us to fail.
This isn’t Championship Manager. Get real and support the team. I honestly think a few on here are hoping for failure so that they are proven right.

EVERY single Town fan has an OPINION. Opinions are just that, opinions.

Ive said ( in my opinion), we are not doing particukarly well getting a striker in. We desperately need one. Weve tried high end strikers and they dont want to come....we've included overseas players ( good), but currently no success there, yet. Fine, I get it... but there's no law on this forum that's says you cant voice your opinion as you see it, and state what's happened thus far.

The biggest disappointment for me is this forum really does appear full of bullies, and keyboard warriors, the like of which I haven't really noticed on other fans forums.

There's no tolerance of others opinions on on here and this ridiculous up and down voting on here beggers belief really. But each to their own.

The club will continue its business in good faith, and hopefully we will get in the calibre of players we really want and not " make do", with 2nd or 3rd choices. Time will tell, but COYBs for our final pre season game and for next Friday.....

Will be great to have him back. We desperate need to get the minimum of another CM and STR through the doors to be ready for the season. That’s counting on no one else leaving. Even if Omari goes, we would still have enough cover. Broadhead to Wrexham has gone a little quiet the last few days - are we waiting to see what happens with Omari?

Don’t worry about em Arnie, way too many bed wetters on here! You tell a little joke they take you literally and jump down your throat. Probably the same ‘free speech’ brigade that are so hard done by! Only works one way when it’s something they don’t like/agree with…

Sorry Arnie M and followers- i gave up ages ago commenting on this site because of bullies and more VOCAL CAPITAL LETTER typers.

Cajuste is quality. It is a gamble signing anyone to face the rigours of a championship season so don't panic. Strikers will follow.

Don't panic just yet.

Strange isn't it the only people to consistently get marked down are Arnie M, BlueArmy81 (previously Blueboy81?) & RobsonWark. Are they actually ITFC supporters?
As for Cajuste coming back, seeing he was one of a few to really impress in the Prem I think he will just exude real class in the Championship. He was very popular, obviously a very bright man, how many languages does he speak, experienced at the top level. I'm surprised others aren't in for him.

@ArnieM - we've been relegated. That means you'll likely lose players and have a weaker squad in the season that follows. To blame this on Ashton, who has done and incredible job since he's come in, is nonsensical. Get a grip and enjoy the upcoming season.

I think Matsiwa and Cajuste played together previously at Reims, so I think they may know each other...?

Come back Jens we'll have you if no body else wants you.

Cajuste will only go where he wants to go. He has already rejected moves so if he comes back it is because he wants to. If he was good enough for us in the PL then he is good enough for us in the Championship.

Lukeybluey, they did indeed for at least a season. I would certainly welcome JC back, he would be an absolute class act in the Championship, much better than the great majority of midfielders in the league. If he could work on his throw ins and get them flatter with a bit more pace, he'd have another very useful weapon in his armoury! Yes, we know the risks attached with him, which is why I say, we should get another midfielder in as well, or we just stick with what we have for cover. I know which I'd prefer, but it's not my hand on the money!

As for a striker, well, we most certainly need one good one and quite possibly another for back up. Once again the concern is with possible injuries, this time GH. Let's all hope they are behind him now. Like many on here, I've seen the links, heard the rumours. Only yesterday afternoon I was sent something, I'm not saying what, as I'd rather wait until it proves to be true or false. One thing's for sure, if it's the former, it's going to become a lively forum!

I am not aware that being positive is regarded as toxic. Strange how some contort the English language to further their own abrasive posts.

Bert, Toxic positivity would indeed be a new one on me too!

This won't be a very popular post - however I'm a bit mystified by how highly so many fans rate Cajuste.

I think he's an okay player, but 1) I worry about his knee and how he would cope with the number of games in the Championship; and 2) last season he showed the odd glimpse of being a good player, but he never did it consistently and never even got parity with the opposition in the midfield battle, let alone dominate.

If we were to be promoted again (a big IF), I don't think he's the player to help us stay up, it will just be more of the same. Especially at the fee quoted.

Linkboy13 added 08:49 - Aug 3
Yes kiwi Tractor if he was that impressive last season why no interest from Premier league clubs. He will do a good job for us in the championship and hopefully if we get promoted it will be another building job and he will be on his way again scouring Europe for another club.
