McKenna: Hutchinson Not Mentally in Right Place For France Trip
Saturday, 2nd Aug 2025 19:39

Town boss Kieran McKenna says Brentford target Omari Hutchinson “didn’t feel mentally in the right place” to travel with the squad for this evening’s friendly against Auxerre in France.

Yesterday, it was reported that the Bees are set to come back in with a £37.5 million offer for the 21-year-old, having previously had bids, the highest £35 million, turned down by the Blues.

Hutchinson was a notable absentee from the squad which beat Ligue 1 Auxerre 3-0 this evening.

“Omari, with the speculation around his future at the moment, he didn’t feel mentally in the right place to come for the game,” McKenna said when asked about Hutchinson after the match.

“It’s a challenging situation for everyone. He’s a player that we love and we support and we have empathy with the year that he’s been through and this important moment in his career.

“But also the career have the right for their position as well. We’ll keep working and communicating on that situation as well and hopefully it’ll be the best resolution for the club and for the player.”

Hello Boss, I'm doing any work in the office today due to being mentally unfocussed.
OK, you still want your wages for today?
Yes please.

An injury to OH now and the £40 sale is off. An unhappy player next year his value only depreciates.

And do we really believe Davis has a slight knock. That's what Newcastle said about Isak, and he clearly wants out. Think Davis is off too . But we are inwhat we have left, with a few additions we will be ok. Quality players will move towards the end of the month. Well done to broadhead, similar situation but able to play. Good luck to any players wanting to leave.

It is normal for players not to play in Omari’s situation. The club will obviously sell at some price. If Omari plays and get injured and can’t play for a couple of months it may have cost the club £40 million that is an expensive friendly game. It is not be in the club’s interest to play him in this situation.
