Morsy Leaves Kuwait SC
Tuesday, 23rd Sep 2025 09:38

Former Blues skipper Sam Morsy is reported to have left his new club Kuwait SC by mutual consent only two months after making his move to the Kuwaiti Premier League champions from Town.

According to Qatari-based Alkass Sports, the player and club have agreed to terminate the 34-year-old’s highly lucrative two-year contract and Kuwait SC are now looking to sign another foreign player to strengthen their midfield.

Morsy, who had been captaining the side, was sent off after 30 minutes of Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to Al-Arabi, only the third game of the Kuwait season.

The Egyptian international was allowed to leave Portman Road on a free transfer in the summer despite having a year left on his contract following a highly successful four seasons at the club during which time he led the team to back-to-back promotions and into the Premier League.

Morsy won’t be able to join another club until the transfer window opens in January.

TimmyH of course he wanted to leave or hed still be here. The reason he wanted to go tho was bcse he'd clearly been tapped up for this move. And at his time of life was never gonna turn down checking of offer jexwas made. My point. To lightning was more about Burgess, Chaplin broadhead and woolfy, than about Morsy

I think he will be allowed to train with us and if he reaches the fitness levels required and impresses in training games that are very intense could possibly sign in January for the rest of the season but i very much doubt it. Apart from beating a very poor Sheffield United side who lost to Charlton by the way we haven't exactly been pulling up any trees. The squad is strong on paper but is lacking a inspirational character on the pitch at the moment. Nunez has to come in and replace Cajuste who hasn't lived up to all the hype and hero's return at the moment.

Why? Very strange. Although we have missed his leadership I can't see how he can come back. He can't be registered until January anyway but we have a new team and leadership group now and despite all his attributes it could actually be disruptive to try to fit him into the squad.

Much as I liked his leadership and his style of play in our successful promotion seasons, most on here were saying he’s too slow for the Prem. Besides we’re overloaded with midfielders currently and I think Matusiwa is a better long term bet. Having him in an advisory or training role would be good, and maybe he may be able to teach DOS how to captain a team.

He was tapped up blues1? So why was there no fee involved? He had another year on his contract and you think we didn't want a fee because of the service he gave and he was going abroad, this is football not netball.
I'd like an explanation, where did the money go and why has he left?

How about as a part time player and assistant coach ?

I have a funny feeling he might hang up his boots and try a coaching/management role. But wish him the best wherever he ends up.

Couldn't agree more with Blueslad7.. Train with the lads until January then resign him.. What a story that would be, we really need his captaincy to restore and bring together this new team which so far been missing somewhat

Dark Horse and Cressi I like it. We do seem to be in a muddle and need tobe very careful. We must wakeup and beat Portsmouth otherwise the unthinkable (to some) could happen with difficult matches against Bristol away and the local derby coming up.Although Norwich are poor at present you can bet that all that will change at PR. We are currently on the cusp of relegation involvment and it does not look too good..It is still early in the season and as well as the existing expensive recruits we badly need some grit and determination in the side.Let us hope that the necessary improvement will be forthcoming. As an aside I find it interesting that we have bought a forward who scored a hatful of goals one season and expect him to do it again - really. Also I thought that Ben Sheaf looked very good for Wrexham the other day - perhaps one that got away.

I see Broadhead is getting comfortable on the bench at Wrexham amazing some on here rated him almost world class. Good blog blues 1 we should stop buying players they are hampering the progress of our young players. Ive always wanted to be in the National league. Seriously it's up to the young players to prove they are better than what we've got that's the way it's always been at any club. Humphreys is the best young player we've got at the moment such is the lack of young talent at the club at the moment and he's 22 correct me if im wrong.

Wouldn’t bet against Norwich trying to sign him just to get their own back over Nunez.

Sad tw@ts

Love Morsy as much as the rest of most town fans, but there's no time for nostalgia. We need to build a team that'll get us promoted and to stay in the PL when we get there. If we need to improve the squad in Jan we need to go in for someone better and with more mobility.
