Two Changes For Town at Stoke as Nunez Misses Out
Tuesday, 10th Mar 2026 19:03

Town have made two changes for this evening’s game at Stoke City with Jack Taylor and Jack Clarke coming into the team for Dan Neil and Marcelino Nunez, who is absent from the squad due to a hamstring injury.

Neil drops to the bench with Ben Johnson back among the subs as the Blues look for their first ever win at the bet365 Stadium in their 10th visit.

Stoke make five changes from the team which lost 2-0 at Swansea at the weekend with former Colchester right-back Junior Tchamadeu making his first start since suffering an injury while at the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon.

Maksym Talovierov returns at centre-half, while Tomas Rigo is in midfield and forwards Million Manhoef and Milan Smit also come back into the XI.

Sorba Thomas misses out following his red card against the Swans with captain Ben Wilmot, who suffered a season-ending injury at the weekend, and Ben Pearson, who is ill, also among 12 senior players missing out along with ex-Blues left-back Aaron Cresswell. Ben Gibson, Steven Nzonzi and Lamine Cisse drop to the bench.

Defender Ashley Phillips, 20, who is on loan from Tottenham, captains for the first time, while the bench features four U21s players, Syd Agina, Pijus Otegbayo, Jerome Osei and Chinonso Chibueze.

Stoke: Simkin, Tchamadeu, Bocat, Phillips, Talovierov, Rigo, Seko, Rak-Sakyi, Manhoef, Junho, Smit. Subs: Fielding, Agina, Otegbayo, Gibson, Kelly, Nzonzi, Osei, Chibueze, Cisse.

Ipswich: Walton, Furlong, O’Shea, Kipre, Davis, Matusiwa, Taylor, Burns, Mehmeti, Clarke, Azon. Subs: Palmer, Johnson, Greaves, Neil, Cajuste, McAteer, Walle Egeli, Akpom, Hirst. Referee: Thomas Kirk (Cheshire).

Nunez had problems from earlyish in the first half on Saturday. Not sure why he wasn't taken off. Other than that, much as expected selection I'd say.

Nunez proving to be somewhat susceptible to injury, as predicted by his previous Club fans.

Seems we've upset someone. Just as well I don't care!

Stoke have so many senior players unavailable, that with our strength and depth it would be a massive disappointment if we don’t take all 3 points

I think Neil is a good player but he has struggled in his last two appearances especially against Leicester where he was easily knocked off the ball and i said in my last vlog that Taylor would be recalled. Nunez hasn't been quite himself since coming back from his last injury and may need an extended rest for his persistent ankle injury to settle down.

AJW, almost a Stoke second eleven, and by the looks of it, they've struggled to put that out!

Absolutely dire. Expect positive words from McKenna and subs in 72nd minute. Surely the players know they are throwing this season away?

Azon is a lightweight, spends more time on the ground than on his feet, players need to look at themselves, seemingly not up for the challenge, cannot see this bunch either making it or surviving in the PL, big 45 minutes to change my mind

that's just an appalling first half. We have been just terrible. Lost for words really. Can't believe I'm saying it but it must be a change of team and management at the end of the season. Promoted or not.

Rubbish . Why all this passing around in front of the goal keeper . Then pass to him . Keep it out of the area and go for goal .

And Keiron we don't want to hear how the first goal was offside then we gave away a really poor goal at a vital point just before half time. We know and we have known all season. What goes on at training all week?

Don't think the defence are good enough on the ball to slow. Get Graves on go 3-5-2

Well, always get a feeling within the first 5 minutes how the game is going to go and here we have it. Labored and lackluster is being kind. A john sitton style team talk is needed, bit I’m guessing the tactics board will be out laced with cuddles and kind words. Miracle is needed second half! Absolutely no chance we can conjure up 3 goals!! Would love to be proved wrong though….

Going up, the tinker man makes loads of changes on the starting 11 , but never changes the system any subs are made at the same time. His incompetence has been found out.
