Third Win in a Row For Town Women
Sunday, 4th Oct 2026 16:18

Ipswich Town Women maintained their unbeaten start to the WSL2 season and made it three wins on the bounce with a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Town took the lead in the 58th minute via Megan Hornby, before Princess Ademiluyi smashed the second into the roof of the net from distance on 71 to make it 2-0.

The Blades hit back through Connie Scofield 12 minutes from time but David Wright’s side saw out the remaining minutes in relative comfort to secure their second away win of the season.

They remain third in the WSL2 table, two points behind Sunderland and four off leaders Newcastle United, who have a 100 per cent record.

Town are next in action at home to Sunderland on Sunday 25th October after the international break.

Town: Proulx, Boswell (c) (Lawton 82), Hunter, Weir, Roe, Palmer, Mitchell, Hornby, Timms (Fox 87), McGowan (Ayane 46), Ademiluyi. Unused: Negri, Slattery, O’Brien, McAteer, Cavanagh, Peake.

Only saw the first half, when it was all one way. Pleasantly surprised to see a result which looked highly unlikely at half time.

That was a tough battle, we found a different way to win. Not quite as defensively sound as otherwise this season so far, but you take wins however they're achieved. Some credit is due to SU who may think themselves a bit unlucky not to have got something out of the game. I thought the shot off the crossbar they had was more likely in than not, but not possible to be dogmatic about it, and fortunately the officials were too far away to be sure either, we'll get them and we'll get them go against us over a season.

A choice of two for player of the match. Think I might split it between Princess and Hornby. When you have someone like Princess in the side who must be a pain in the backside for opposition defenders and can come up with special moments like today, yet again, you have someone who can change games. As for Hornby, worked hard, did her defensive stuff too and of course unleashed the shot that deflected in for the first. There'll be better performances, but none of them will earn any more points.

An excellent win considering we were under the cosh most of the first half.
We attack well but a bit of work needs to be done regarding the defence.
Well done though ladies.

When you nearly take London City to penalties these WSL2 look easy. Well done ladies another 3 points. Keep going.

These ladies don’t do tap ins then!

Great result, well done yet again.

They deserve more games at PR, would surely get bigger attendances.

Sheffield United might want to ask some questions of their keeper.

But love to see Town Women doing the biz.

It’s a big part of my Sunday these last couple of years. Princess staying beyond Jan is essential. Now Peskett has gone to Brighton she is our key attacker. Thought we controlled the second half and deserved the points.
