![]() Thursday, 10th Jul 2003 16:21 Released veteran defender Mark Venus has agreed to sign a one-year deal at Third Division Cambridge United. TWTD reported earlier in the week that the former Wolves player was mulling over an offer from the Abbey Stadium club. U's boss John Taylor says that at times he was concerned the deal might not come off, especially when a Second Division side came in with a late bid. However, the 36-year-old has shaken hands on the deal and will sign once a few formalities have been completed. Taylor says he is pleased to have made the signing: "It's been hard work and I wasn't sure he'd come, but we're obviously delighted that he's decided to spend a year with us."
