Town boss Joe Royle has given up on Richard Naylor being fit for Saturday's home game with Watford. The central defender will be replaced by John McGreal who is over his knee ligament problem.

Royle told the club site: "Bam Bam hasn't made it, the injury is still sore but there is no further damage following the Walsall game.

"He got us out of a hole in midweek and deserves a lot of praise for that.

"On a positive note, John McGreal has come through training OK over the last couple of days and he will now play against Watford, alongside Matt Elliott."

Town look likely to line-up unchanged other than McGreal coming in for Naylor. Royle has already said that Dean Bowditch and Darren Bent will continue up front, while it would be a surprise if he switched his full-backs or midfielders.

Watford are without Neil Cox due to a back problem, while Jack Smith still has stitches in an ankle. Marcus Gayle and Hameur Bouazza are back in training after injuries but will not be involved against Town.

Town squad: Davis, Price, Wilnis, Richards, Elliott, McGreal, Diallo, Magilton, Miller, Wright, Westlake, Mitchell, Bent, Bowditch, Kuqi and Armstrong.
