Canadian youngster Jaime Peters continues to ponder his future after trial spells with the Blues, Millwall, Manchester United and Derby, and Town fan Simon Copley has a cunning ruse which he hopes will persuade the winger to move to Portman Road.

Copley launched an online petition via the TWTD Message Board earlier today and plans to send the completed list of names to Peters' agent Barry MacLean for the player's perusal, hopefully convincing him to join Town.

The petition cites Town's excellent record of bringing through youngsters as one of the reasons why the 17-year-old should opt for the Blues: "Our Academy is our pride and joy, and the source of the majority of our success in the past decade.

"It is increasingly important as we look to reclaim our place in the Premiership, and we are seeing many outstanding youngsters forming the core of our present side at the top of the Championship, and hopefully in the Premiership in seasons to come. These players are fully encouraged in their international endeavours."

Already more than 100 fans have backed the petition which can be found here.

Peters spent time at Town in the summer, impressing in games for the U18s against Liverpool and in the reserves at Needham Market, and manager Joe Royle said he was keen to add him to the ranks of the Academy.

The right-sided midfielder, who made his full Canada debut earlier this season, left German side Kaiserslautern in the summer and had arranged trials at Millwall, Derby and Manchester United in addition to his spell at Town.

Peters, whose style of play is very reminiscent of former Town striker David Johnson, appeared to opt for Millwall some weeks ago, telling Jason de Vos that he preferred a move to London where he has family while the pair were on international duty.

However, he seems to be stalling on putting pen to paper and the other interested parties, including Town, could still be in with a chance of his signature.
