Sheepshanks Angry Over Appeal Failure Fri 16th Feb 2001 16:25
Town's second appeal on the sending off of Marcus Stewart against Leeds has been turned down. Chairman David Sheepshanks and manager George Burley have both made statements regarding the matter, Sheepshanks claiming FA bias towards bigger clubs, something referred to earlier this week by Jim Magilton.

Reports this afternoon are now claiming that there will be no second appeal against Marcus Stewart's sending off. This morning stories suggested that the FA were to allow Town another attempt to overturn the ban, but this now seems not to be the case.

The work on the South Stand continues apace with the roof work now well in progress. The club say that "structural steel and purlins now forming a lattice effect across the whole roof of the new stand." whatever that means (any builders out there able to give more info on what purlins are?).

Despite the loss of the initial appeal Town are fighting on to try and get Marcus Stewart's red card overturned. Chairman David Sheepshanks was in talks with the FA yesterday and they have agreed to allow Town another appeal.

Local radio reports suggest that Town may launch a second appeal against Marcus Stewart's red card against Leeds. Although the club has had no confirmation that the original appeal has been turned down they are planning a second attempt to rescind the card should the outcome turn out to be negative.

Town are claiming that they have not heard from the FA regarding the appeal against Marcus Stewart's red card. The club have told us that David Sheepshanks was speaking to the FA this morning about the alleged decision and a spokesperson told us that: "we are still hopeful".

Marcus Stewart's appeal over his red card against Leeds has been turned down by the FA Advisory Committee. He will now miss the games against Everton, Bradford and Aston Villa and won't have a game for the five weeks from last Saturday until March 17th.
