Worthington Draw Wed 13th Dec 2000 22:44 Should Ipswich defeat Manchester City in next week's rearranged Quarter Final game in the Worthington Cup, we will be at home to Birmingham in the first leg of the semi, to be played on the 9th/10th of January. The away leg would be played on the 23rd/24th of January. |
City News Addendum Wed 13th Dec 2000 17:36 In addition to yesterday's coach travellers the club is also offering those who made their own way to the game the opportunity to travel for free by coach. Just present your ticket stub to the Ticket Office. |
Statue of Robson Wed 13th Dec 2000 17:25 Bobby Robson looks likely to have a Portman Road statue dedicated to him alongside that of Sir Alf Ramsey. Town fans have long wanted tributes to the two men who more than most helped make Town the club it is (see TWTD letters pages over the last ten years) with statues and stand namings amongst the most popular ideas. |
City News Wed 13th Dec 2000 17:08 As expected Town's 603 intrepid Worthington Cup heroes will be given free entry to Maine Road next week on presentation of their stubs from last night. Town are also being more generous than their Manchester counterparts giving refunds to those fans who went to the game last night but cannot make the rerun. |
Match WILL be played at Christie Park Wed 13th Dec 2000 13:45 Sources in the north west say that the match will be played at Morecambe's Christie Park. More details as we get it. |
City Game Tuesday Wed 13th Dec 2000 09:51 Town's abandoned Worthington Cup game with Manchester City has been rearranged for next Tuesday at 7.45pm. As yet there is no information from Town on ticketing arrangements, although we expect stubs from last night to be valid for the rearranged game. |
Morecambe Decision Delayed Tue 12th Dec 2000 23:08 The decision as to where the venue will be for our 3rd Round FA Cup tie, will be announced at midday tomorrow. Morecambe FC will talk with Portman Road staff tomorrow after their meeting at 6pm this evening. One possible outcome is that the game could be played at Ewood Park, as Morecambe host some of Blackburn Rovers reserve games. Watch this space for more details. |
Manchester So Much to Answer For Tue 12th Dec 2000 21:23 Town’s Worthington Cup fourth round tie came to a premature end when referee Graham Poll took the players off to allow the pitch time to improve after heavy rain. A few minutes later an announcement over the tannoy told fans that the game had in fact been abandoned. |
Kavianpour to Sign Tue 12th Dec 2000 10:50 Middle East sources (I've never written that before!) are suggesting that Hamed Kavianpour could be about to sign for Town. The Iranian midfielder was on trial with Town last week and impressed enough for Town to say that they would monitor his progress. |
Full Strength for Town Tue 12th Dec 2000 10:26 Town are unlikely to be resting anyone for tonight's game with Manchester City at Maine Road. Marcus Stewart has been left out of Town's other Worthington Cup games, but he seems certain to partner James Scowcroft up front. |
