Town manager George Burley has added his worries regarding the impending changes to the transfer system to those who have already spoken out. The Town manager said: "There seems little doubt that things will change, but the question is whether FIFA and the politicians can agree on some compromise that will not result in destroying the game as we know it."

Town defender and future TWTD columnist (its coming soon, honest) John Scales is set to make his Town debut at Filbert Street on Wednesday. He has now recovered from his thigh injury and looks likely to replace Mark Venus who has acquired a thigh problem of his own. Town manager George Burley said: "John came through okay and goes straight into the squad for the game at Filbert Street. We are hopeful that Mark will be okay, but it is reassuring to have a player of John’s experience back in the fold."

Town chairman David Sheepshanks continues his recovery in hospital and is likely to be out before Town take on Leicester on Wedensday. However, he will not be fit enough to travel to Filbert Street and will listen to the game on the radio. In his absence the club has been run by the other members of the board, although the chairman has attempted to keep an eye on things from his hospital bed.

Town manager George Burley has said he is not interested in Colchester's Lomano Tresor Lua Lua. The Blues boss said that although he had put in an offer last season he was no longer interested in signing the Zairean player. Burley added that he was only interested in bringing in players who would fit straight into the team and that Lua Lua was not in that category.

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has been admitted to hospital suffering from breathing problems. The Town chairman suffered complications from a sporting injury suffered a couple of weeks ago which has lead to internal bleeding in the calf muscle of his left leg. This led to circulation problems ultimately resulting in a shortness of breath. A Town spokesperson said: "The chairman is receiving and responding well to treatment but is expected to be in hospital for a few days before returning to work sometime later next week."

FIFA chairman Sepp Blatter has announced that FIFA has accepted transfer fees for player over 24 years of age are a thing of the past. Blatter said today: "In our minds we have already taken the position that we have to look at a new system. We have to find a solution and look at the consequences of the decision we make. That is why we need to receive more time from the European Commission."

Town are emerging as rivals to Newcaslte United for the signature of Colchester's promising youngster Lomano Tresor Lua Lua. The Zaire-born player has been a long-time target of George Burley who put in an offer for the 19-year-old at the end of last year.

Matt Holland and Guillermo Graaven are both suffering from injuries as Town go into a matchless weekend. Graaven's injury, sustained in last night's reserve game, has undergone x-rays which will show the extent of the injury later today.
