Town manager George Burley has said he was pleased with Town's performance on Saturday despite the 3-1 defeat: "Over all I was pleased with the performance. I don't think 3-1 reflected the difference between the teams. The team worked very hard but a couple of individual mistakes cost us three points."

Town fell to defeat in their first game back in the Premiership, although it was not all bad news for George Burley’s men. The Blues lined up with new signing Hermann Hreidarsson lining up in the middle of a back three with Titus Bramble to his right and Mark Venus to his left. Up front David Johnson partnered Marcus Stewart who started despite the rumours yesterday, with James Scowcroft, Jim Magilton and Matt Holland in midfield. The wing backs were Gary Croft and Jamie Clapham.

Town have announced that the building work on the turnstiles at Portman Road will be complete for the Manchester United match. However, the work being carried out will cause some disruption.

Town this morning completed the signing of Hermann Hreidarsson. The Icelandic international becomes Town's record capture and is set to start tomorrow's game at Spurs.

Town new signing John Scales is facing a fitness test if he is to be fit for Saturday's game. Scales suffered a thigh injury in last week's game with Fiorentina. He has missed training several times this week, but manager George Burley is confident he will be OK: "Hopefully it will settle down in time, John won't want to miss out against his old club."

Town have announced that the programme will cost £2.50 this season, a rise of 50p on last year. The programme, available this season from newsagents throughout the Town, won a best programme award last season and was bought by 34% people attending matches.

Town's new signing Hermann Hreidarsson will sign on the dotted line tomorrow morning. This means he will definitely be available for the Blues on Saturday at Spurs. It is exptected that he will be paraded at a press conference later in the day.

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has spoken about how important staying up is for Town. He labelled relegation a 'calamity' and added: "Basically we just cannot afford to be relegated. The difference in TV money alone illustrates the point."
