Discussions will begin with the midfielder as soon as he returns from holiday in Sicily. A Town spokesperson said: "Ipswich Town FC are pleased to announce that they have agreed a transfer fee of £1 million for the signing of Martijn Reuser. This will rise at the end of the season if the club are successful at retaining Premiership status." |

Town Away on First Day Wed 14th Jun 2000 11:45 Town look likely to start their Premiership campaign away from home according to provisional lists drawn up by the Premier League. Assistant Secretary Adrian Cook said yesterday "While it is not guaranteed, I am expecting Ipswich to be away on the opening day of the season". Norwich are pushing for an away day first off too, although their fixtures and Town's are not likely to be linked now that the two sides are in different divisions. The Nationwide League kicks off a week earlier anyway. |
Turnstile Revolution Tue 13th Jun 2000 14:55 Portman Road is under going a turnstile revolution with the introduction of a new computerised system costing £18,000. Each turnstile will send information on of entry into the ground and accurate numbers to the Control Room. Work begins next Monday and wil take ten days. Geoff Sheppard, the club's Safety Officer said "We are bringing the turnstile entry system up to the strict safety standards of all other aspects of the ground." |
Town Sign Dutch Kids Tue 13th Jun 2000 10:54 Town have signed two Dutch youngsters for their growing Academy. The Dutch youngsters will compete for places in the U17 and U19 sides competing in the Premier Academy Leagues for the first time. Town are going further afield for yougsters both within the UK and outside. There is controversy in Cambridgshire over Town attempting to 'poach' youngsters from under the noses of the local clubs. |
Reuser Deal in Next Few Days Mon 12th Jun 2000 17:19 Martijn Reuser has gone on holiday and has left his future in the hands of Town and Vitesse Arnhem. Town's loanee star has said that he wants to join Town in the Premiership and that the two clubs are close in their estimates of his value. While he is away the two clubs are likely to thrash out a deal despite new reported interest from Charlton and Derby County. All that would remain then would be for Town to agree a contract with the attacking midfielder. |

Sign Up or Be Sold! Fri 09th Jun 2000 13:08 England and Ipswich keeper Richard Wright has been told to sign up or face being sold. Town have been trying to tie Wright to a long-term deal for two years, but so far he has refused to sign. George Burley said: "If Richard wont't sign his contract he will be put up for sale.... I spoke to him last night and he said he had an open mind. The last thing I want is is for him to leave but we must protect ourselves." Town will want to cash in on the £5 million rated keeper before his contract is up at the end of next season. He will then be able to go abroad on a Bosman or be subject to a tribunal if he signs for a UK club. Town would certainly receive less than his value should this happen. |
