Referee 2-1 Town. Several joke decisions at key moments cost us in a game where, after a slow start, we were on top until the **** in the middle changed things. Don't even think he's worth the 1/10 rating I gave him, but unfortunately can't give the 0 he actually deserves.

After 3 undeserved points last time out we deserved at least a point tonight
Feel for the boys
Harsh red card and penalty
No luck from a decent performance
Better side second half but dominated without really threatening their goal
Shouldn't get too down as lots of good things
Those like me who wanted to see(or hear) our own young players given a chance must have been pleased to see Bishop,Dozzell and Lankester all have good games despite the result
The ref had let the game flow until the two wrong decisions that have cost us
That was still much better than Lincoln or Donny against a strong side

Two awful decisions by the ref cost us the game. Well played by all the boys tonight in a match we deserved to win, or at the very worst to draw. Keep up that level and we'll be ok. Surely we are due some better luck next time.

ITFC deserved a draw from this. Second best for the first half hour, gifted Sunderland a goal, then a fine Edwards run and cool Lankaster finish brought us level. Suddenly we were competing better.

Overall, it looked as though our defence was on top, their defence always looked wobbly, but we still had trouble linking midfield and attack.

Main problem was the ref - Foul after foul by Sunderland, including one nasty late ankle crunch, and still no card.

Then in second half a 50-50 ball contested by Dozzell, fairly it seemed to me, resulted in a red card. Where did that come from? More importantly why? The players seemed equally baffled.

Despite this we still didn't really look like conceding, until a ball to hand incident - no way McGuinness could avoid it - and a really harsh spot kick awarded.

So feeling more cross than disheartened I still think we can challenge again based on this.

There needs to be an EFL review of that refereeing performance. Town clearly the better team, but referee's decisions gave the win to SAFC. Outrageous.

Thought Chambers was magnificent. Bishop also a class above.

I cannot believe the standard of the referees at this level. From letting the game flow and not doing a bad job he then lost the plot. Dozzell’s tackle was at best a yellow, and McGuinness’s handball was certainly not deliberate or obvious from the distant view that the TV pictures showed. We were well on top until the red card and had a strong last 20 mins of the first half. We at least deserved a draw and probably a win. Strange that Lambert chose not to start with Hawkins who would have been confident following his goal against Crewe. Our defence again looked really solid. Bishop and Edwards created the flair and constantly looked dangerous, and Lancaster had a really strong game and scored a cracking goal and possibly should have been given a penalty. Also missed a great opportunity to score a second. Jackson rarely used his pace and broke at pace against their dodgy back line and did not hold the ball up as well as Hawkins does. Still not sure about Judge and what he offers to the team. Bishop gets my man of the match. His running with the ball and beating players at ease was phenomenal. Despite losing I feel more confident than after recent games that we have won!

If a player had made decisions as bad as this referee did in this game he would never play again. That idiot no doubt will be ruining some other poor sods team this weekend with no reprisal again. I don’t think I have seen two decisions so bad in a long while and definitely not both in one game

When will it go our way? To play well and lose is a lot to bear esp as Leadbitter helped get Dozzell sent off with play acting. It's about time refs took a look at players who overreact then jump up as if nothing happened!

Shouldnt need to wait for the ref to amke poor decisions? If we were 4-0 up by the time the penalty came it wouldnt have mattered much. Got to stop making excuses and get the job in question done.
