I hadn’t thought about that. A healthy sell on percentage as part of the contractual 30m release clause would actually make his statement make a lot more sense. Hope you’re right.

I haven’t been able to shake this point either. Like you say, the deal isn’t awful by any means but it feels to me just very odd choice of words if it was only going to be a matter of time before it became common knowledge that he would be available for a price so below true value that basically the whole league wanted to buy him. Ashton could have just said nothing and then when the clause came out said it was that or not getting him at all and I think we would all agree it was good business for a year. It’s not a criticism but I just can’t understand what his upside was from saying what he said when he said it?

Glad I’m not the only one this has been bugging.

Bold decision to annoy the highest paying ST holders isn’t it
at 15:35 4 Jun 2024

I was on the line 10 am on the dot and was 10th in the queue. My work phone kept being unable to connect but personal one did. I was on the line for 20 mins and then got cut off at 2nd but can't be sure this wasn't my signal as had been fine until then.

Fortunately my friend was also in a similar position in the queue and managed to move us all to the new block X seats as our accounts are linked. I got an email confirmation shortly after with the price as - £150 so assume that will be refunded. Not sure how good the general availability was (or is now) but we got 3 together. Could have just been very lucky.

I have the Fenix 7 solar and love it. The Golf course & Ski run mapping features seem to be a big premium selling point so if this isn't something you will use, you might want to check whether there is a more cost efficient (Garmin) alternative that meets your needs- not sure.

But if you don't mind the cost - I thoroughly recommend.

Bold decision to annoy the highest paying ST holders isn’t it

100% this. I am disappointed the decision was taken to close the block but I can accept it was made after careful consideration of how to balance all interests to the best ability of the club whilst meeting the new requirements.

The main cause of anger from everyone I have spoken to is that we were given 18 hours notice via email to get in a queue for tickets today at 10 am (which kept cutting off as the lines were clearly overwhelmed) without any detail in advance as to where there was availability to enable you to plan.

The club has done an awful lot right but I don't think it takes a genius to realise that this wasn't a great plan. They also have access to demography data of all ticket holders so will have known that a material proportion of these customers will at least be at risk of missing an email with such a short deadline to action. As a minimum there should have been more advice in the email as to what options you had (and capacities) and a longer lead time to make a decision.

I don't believe the cost of Block D entitles any special treatment (other than the perks of the block we paid for) and would take this view for any season ticket moves of any price. It is about treating people with a little bit of respect and costs the club nothing.

I have ( or I guess had) a season ticket in block D albeit for a lot less time than many others. I’m pretty glum tonight as it was a very special part of the ground and I know it’s unlikely to ever be replicated fully. I had already made peace that time there was limited and although I wasn’t expecting it to be so soon, I do accept the club probably wouldn’t be moving all of the most profitable seats in the house for £30 away fans without looking hard for alternatives.

The messaging though has been crap. Pictures on Twitter followed by an email today with very little information other than to join the bun fight at 10am tomorrow. Just like the poster above, many of the people in the block have been there for decades and my friend who I sit with made the very good point that this demographic is less likely to be checking email on a daily basis. To not have the courtesy to call them or write a letter is very poor in my opinion.

I am also annoyed that the club almost certainly knew about this before the end of the season and said nothing. Ashton specifically pointed out in the interview where he advised of upcoming changes that they had been engaging with the premier league since the spring. To be consulted would have been nice if tokenistic but mainly it would have meant I had the chance to properly say goodbye to the people I have been sitting around and thank the staff that work in the bar and on the block. I’m sure many of you are also in a similar position of becoming friendly over time with people in your area but not to the point where you would ever exchange contact information. My main recurring memory tonight is saying “see you in the premiership” to a lady in my row as I left. If it was inevitable that this wouldn’t be so, I’m not really sure what the upside was to the club of keeping it under wraps.

Dual Stop Holiday Experts
at 10:46 6 Nov 2023

I used dial a flight recently to book a big holiday. Nothing went wrong so can't really test how they react under fire (as post-departure is a separate 24/7 team) but would definitely recommend their pre-travel customer service.

Their USP is always answering the phone in under 7 rings or something similar which they never failed on for me. I had a dedicated agent who might not always be immediately available to speak when I phoned but would call back within a couple of hours if the general desk couldn't resolve.

They put together a package of flights / hotels / private transfers / some excursions down to the detail of making restaurant reservations for us near to the time of departure as we had heard they fill up.

I would estimate their markup to be minimal in percentage terms and I did look at costing everything combined myself but this was a 3 week long haul trip so there was probably quite a lot of room for them to get agent discounts and make margin of the supplier side compared to a SH shorter trip.

Is Madri really being marketed in the same bracket as Peroni? I thought it was more on par with Carling & Fosters?

After 11 years I’ve moved upstairs…
at 21:02 3 Apr 2023

I’ve just got one for the first time in ten years since leaving Ipswich. Night games will be a bit of a struggle from London and didn’t intend to ever get one until moving back to Suffolk in a few years but with the trajectory the club is hopefully on, decided there may not be any available by then where I wanted to sit.
