Lots of terrace anthems over the years have been soft and about love rather than football for example Sunshine on leith by the Proclaimers sung by Hibernian fans. Take a look at this for a spine tingling rendition from the 2016 Scottish cup final
Good night Irene by Bristol Rovers fans would be another good example.
Ipswich fans singing Perfect would be brilliant it obviously means a lot to the players .
The fans who booed last season were a disgrace to this club. If Mckenna wasn't our manager but merely a fan where do you think he would be come the final whistle? ( Clue this man punches dug-outs because he's passionate)
"not picked out a couple of times" .....he spent a lot of the time with his hand in the air in acres of space, two quick passes and he would have been on the front foot, we were too slow getting the ball out to him. Frustrating!
Incorrect, Ipswich press to win the ball high up the field or to force errors so you absolutely do need to press with acceleration and conviction, there is a difference between pressing and holding play. Much of the time Hamadi was jogging around into holding positions.
The sound of the corrugated iron back of the North Stand being kicked by Dr Martin boots to make a racket, you would hear it as you were queing to get in - as a teenager it was exciting.
Barnsley away for me too, never forget that moment between Hirst's boot and the back of the net, there was a seconds silence almost as though the air was being sucked out of the stadium before the away end errupted. It was the moment of realisation we were going up.
Virtually all of Ladapo's presses were pretend where he just move closer to the opposition and then relaxed at the last second rather than commiting to the press. I understand about holding a player up zonally but that far up the pitch the press needs to be about regaining the ball or forcing the opposition into an error. It was a poor performance , not sure he will be here come the end of Jan.
I went to many games as a youngster in the 70's , most away games were pretty dangerous or at least felt it when you were 14. Often chased, threatened or had scarf nicked etc. The risk kept our away support pretty poor generally. We would turn out in big numbers for Norwich away and important FA Cup games like Bristol Rovers and Millwall away in 78. The away support these days is fantastic and would be even better if it was unlimited entry as it was in the 70's.
I suppose everyone sees things differently but watching Ipswich in the 70's I always thought of Wolves & Portsmouth as pretty Big clubs with good traditions and past glory days.
Going to miss the sky lights and girders at the back of the stand, always looks so distinctive in photos or on TV. I hope the new stand when it comes has personality - a unique Ipswich identity.
