My memory is terrible at the best of times, but I'm convinced that Mich scored the first goal I ever saw 'live' at Portman Road, in a 1-0 win over Brighton, around 1983 or 1984, but I've looked up all the matches from those seasons and can't find when it actually was!

I've probably still got the programme somewhere, I'll have to dig it out one day.

The huge number of mail-in votes could also work in Trump's favour, as I mentioned the other day.

You would think that most Trump supporters will be voting in person, whereas Democrats will be more inclined to vote by post, so on the day, it's possible that Trump will 'win', whilst his supporters set about disrupting the mail-in count and alleging fraud, and the longer it takes to count all those extra votes, the more time there will be for the Republicans to dig-in and refuse to accept any other result.

VAR is simply ruining football
at 23:35 27 Sep 2020

They've just explained on MOTD2 that it's FIFAs ruling to make sure that rules are applied consistently across all leagues.

Apparently last season, in the PL there were 19 pens awarded for handball, in La Liga it was 48 and in Serie A 57.

Will the PL have the guts to back out of this, I wonder?

I'm surprised they're even acknowledging the existence of football below the PL. Can't stand Dan Walker, but might watch just to see how condescending they are towards the little lower league clubs.

Thanks for that, I really wish I hadn't read it though - I didn't really understand how the US election process worked before, now I've got no idea!

Assuming the writer is correct, there could be 3 people claiming the Presidency on Inauguration Day: Trump, Biden and Nancy Pelosi (as acting President)????

Seems like the Democrats drive to get as many people to vote as possible could also backfire, if more of them vote by mail as opposed to in-person, that increases the time it takes to count the votes and helps the Republicans claim victory based on in-person votes and possible mail fraud.

I'm worried that he will pull something out of the bag in the last few weeks or even days leading upto the election, that persuades enough people to give him another 4 years.

He seemed to have reigned things in a bit the last few weeks - if the news over here is anything to go by - no doubt his team will be desperate to show how presidential he is/can be and avoid any absolute clangers that hand Biden the win.

Yeah, I've read up about it and understand that - losses are factored into it as well. I would only put a small amount in initially to see how it goes - I've learnt a painful lesson from the stockmarket in the past...

How to give away £6 Bn....Fair play to this fella.

I watched 'All the money in the world' the other night - the story of the kidnapping of John Paul Gettys grandson, and his refusal to pay, and (SPOILER ALERT!) at the end of the film JPG's ex-daughter-in-law was offered the job of being temporarily in charge of the charitable trust that was his fortune, apparently everything he ever bought was through the trust to avoid paying tax!

Don't know if it's true/correct/embellished as I haven't Googled it, but apart from the antiquities that went to the Getty museum, there must have been some sizeable donations over the years.

Holiday was cancelled last night....
at 17:11 18 Sep 2020

No problems here in Yarmouth - perhaps surprisingly considering the amount of tourists that have been here over the summer. Everything's open at the moment - no leisure center/swimming pool of course as it's been demolished to make way for a new one, but if you're in one of the holiday parks they should have one that's open.

Well we could, and assuming we broke the salary cap, just pay the fine that would come our way.

Didn't watch the game, but had BBC Suffolk commentary on, and yes sounds like he might be worth a cheeky bid, especially if we're losing other players...

Yes. I think there have been 3 series so far, last one not so good IMO, but first series excellent, so worth a watch for sure.
