I think Edwards could feel like a new signing this summer. If we can get him fully fit and playing in his favoured position then McKenna has bags of potential there to work with and coach.
I think McKenna will conduct a very good pre-season. Paul Cook was your typical dinosaur who expects players to run until they're sick. McKenna clearly likes to balance the hard running alongside more enjoyable footballing sessions which I'm sure the players will appreciate.
Great news. By far our best player last season. Fingers crossed he can continue that form next season. Any incoming striker would thrive from his service.
I still think he would prefer to sign for us over Preston given the choice. He clearly loves it here and believes in the project. Not sure what Preston could offer him that we can't (except the obvious playing in a higher league)
I'm on the Blackburn fans side here. Remember how irked we all got when people were telling us how great Mick McCarthy was despite never seeing us play? Mowbray did a very good job at Blackburn and he's a great guy too but they're entitled to freshen things up. One of my mates supports Blackburn and he's said much the same thing.
Interesting to see that Farke is the favourite to replace him. Can't say I'd wish Blackburn too well if he got the job!
Very poor from Blackburn to treat him this way. They were a shambles when we picked them up. He's got them straight back up from League One and kicked them on to be playoff contenders in the Championship. He's done a great job and I'm sure he'll find a club who will give him the respect he deserves.
The grass isn't always greener. To me it would seem a no brainer to sign a new deal and either impress in training and get a chance in the first team or go back out on loan for another year and come back ready. A big gamble for him.
How can you be bang at it for 90 minutes but concede twice? We've had encouraging performances in spells all season but we have a weak mentality and poor concentration levels at key times of games. We also lack a killer instinct and don't see teams off when we are way on top in the game. It's so frustrating and I'm praying it's something we can sort next season. If we do then we will be a real force. Chaplin should start every week for me as well. He's a natural goalscorer and I always feel we look better when he plays.
I appreciate the focus on the game but it certainly isn't a massive game for us. Surely the next 3 games we should exclude any loanees who we don't intend on keeping and give some game time to our contracted and youth team players. I would be pretty annoyed if Simpson wasn't at least given a bit of a run in the next 3 weeks.
We signed him for a fee and with the intention of being number 1 this season so I would imagine he would be a decent wage to get off the books in the summer. We only need a decent back up as nobody will dislodge Walton.
It's not exactly rocket science stuff but I like the fact that McKenna is so quick to identify problematic areas and sets a plan in place on how to address it. He's very methodical and particular on how he wants to improve us. I'm really looking forward to seeing us next season after a summer of pre-season.
