Burns: Supporters Need to Stick With Us
Cook gets a minimum of four more games for me. After 10 league games we shouldn't be anywhere near the bottom three if we have aspirations of being promoted.
I do believe Cook no longer has a leg to stand on when saying we need time to gel though after making wholesale changes for cup games which could've been used to get players fitter and to build relationships on the pitch.
I also think it's evident that he really misses his old assistant and coaching team.
Cook: We’ve Had No Choice With Some of Our Selections
I'm fully behind Paul Cook and agree the squad needs time to gel and grow but I don't agree with him blaming injuries for playing Fraser on the wing.
Why did Fraser start left wing against Morecambe when Chaplin was fit and played in Fraser's no.10 position? That clearly wasn't down to injuries.
We also have players like Armando Dobra and Louie Barry who can play more naturally out wide who could be used to accommodate Fraser playing centrally. If he's our main man for creating chances then you have to play him where he's most effective and sacrifice someone else in the squad in my opinion.
Cook: Recruitment Probably Close to the End
I still think we need a ball winning defensive midfielder and then we’re done. Evans and Harper are nice and tidy and Carroll is a creative link but we could do with a good tackler sat behind them when things get gritty (which can be regularly in this league).
Blues Visit Cheltenham Targeting First Win
I really hope we didn't sign one of the best number 10s in the league to dump him out on the wings all season. Fraser has to start as our central attacking midfielder!
Cowley on Jacobs and Morrell
I feel sorry for Jacobs and wish him all the best but Edwards is allegedly a better player with more future promise and ultimately that’s the most important factor.
I’m enjoying the rebuild and new signings this summer as much as anyone but one thing I’m not enjoying is how some of our fans are acting on social media. A lot are just having a laugh with the ‘Chequebook FC’ stuff but there are some who are being really arrogant and making us look like idiots. If we don’t go up this season they are going to look even more stupid.
Downes Fee Agreed With Swans - Report
I’m sure he’ll go and get the money he wants but the grass isn’t always greener and I still think a convincing year in League One with us would’ve seen his stock rise higher than probably being a sub at Swansea.
Ipswich Town 0-3 Millwall - Match Report
It’s going to take time for this set of players to gel and become a team. They’re all getting to know each other’s strengths, weaknesses and forming relationships on the pitch so it’s not an overnight job.
Don’t forget there’s arguably 4-5 players that started today who probably won’t start the majority of games next season when we have completed all of our signings and when everybody is fit and fully up to speed (Chaplin, Edmundson, Fraser, hopefully Coulsen etc).
I’ll be more concerned if we lose 0-3 next week.
U18s Coach Jason Leaves Blues to Watch Son Andre at QPR
who wouldn't want to watch their son play Championship football?
It's a real shame Andre never kicked on here but I think QPR with Mark Warburton is a perfect move for him which should work out well. Best of luck to them both.
Ashton: There Feels a Distance Between the Fans and the Club
I thought all three were great and answered questions respectfully and honestly.
Mark Ashton particularly impresses me more and more with every interview. Over time, I really hope and trust that he will overhaul every part of this club that has been left to stagnate over the years.
I do have a really positive feeling that we’re finally in good hands and moving in the right direction again.
My only gripe was actually with some of the fans’ ridiculous questions! What on Earth was that man’s rambling question about Portsmouth to Paul Cook and the people asking how we’ll cope when we lose? Downright bizarre.
Town in Talks to Sign Chaplin
I'd certainly be happy to take a player that made 34 starts for a side who made the Championship play offs last season. At 24 he's still young enough to hopefully kick on another level too. More potentially good business!
Warne Confirms Crooks Joining Boro
Well at least this Curtis Tilt 2.0 saga has finally finished. I trust that Ashton already has several other irons in the fire. We also still have Flynn Downes to bring back into the picture if nobody makes an offer for him.
Town Closing in On Coulson Loan
I've never seen him play but I like his description as being speedy and versatile down the left hand side. Would've preferred him to join permanently but if he's the best player we can sign in that position then bring him in by any means possible. I'm desperate to see us sign a couple of centre backs now.
Crooks Close to Boro Move - Report
A real shame as he would’ve been our best signing in years. You win some and lose some but it’s just nice that we’re making a real effort to bring in players of this calibre anyway. I’m sure Cook and Ashton have a Plan B in mind.
Warnock Considering Coulson Swap Deal
I don't know anything about Coulson so I'm not sure how valuable he is or potentially could be but I'd be reluctant to let Downes go for a straight swap.
Keeper Picked Pompey Ahead of Town
Good luck to the boy but I'm glad we haven't got to rely on a 19-year-old for a full season. We have a permanent proven goalkeeper from the league below who has a lot of experience in the mens game and I much prefer that to a youngster on loan.
The Man City staff clearly haven't done their homework if they're sending him to Danny Cowley based on the wonderful football he plays. He'll be slogging it 80 yards every chance he gets.
