At the outset, it’s not feasible for me as I’m in Block B, and have an octogenarian father with me who’d struggle to mount a privet hedge let alone a Cobbold Stand wall, however what is the general feeling about the above?
I was on the pitch for the Bolton semi-final win in 2000 as a young buck, and at the time it was a lifetime highlight. Conversely, like others I watched on as the players did their lap of honour and extended celebrations last season.
It was those post-Exeter celebrations that live longer however. It was a terrific 45 minutes or so, and would love to see them again IF we manage it on Saturday. Does a pitch invasion preclude there being any repeat of last year’s party? Can you get 5,000 folk back into their seats again?!
We’re putting together a run (apart from last week’s calamity) like we did under Lyall and Burley where we’re looking outstanding in the final few games, and we’ll hopefully, ultimately, get automatic promotion.
This may be a rose-tinted, mis-placed, view of course!
What’s the plan with these two? They must be on handsome contracts, yet aren’t seen as first-choice in their chosen positions. I do get that they’ve had injury issues, however it shows how strong the squad is….or are they luxuries that we may rue having on board?
How we’d have cried out for such an embarrassment of riches only 18 months ago!
With us being on TV for much of the rest of 2023, I’ve been hunting for the above that started a few years ago, that lists all of our televised games over the years.
What would I search for to find it? (And yes, I have tried the obvious searches to no avail!)
So, if Leicester hadn’t also had a stellar start to the season, we would have most points in first eleven games since 09/10 (and I have omitted the Covid season).
In those past 13 seasons, only four sides in second place at this stage of season haven’t made play-offs.
Average points to finish in top two in that time has been 89 points (highest 93, lowest 79), and top six has been 74, on average (highest 80, lowest 68).
So….on an average season, which this may not be, we need 1.74 points per game for top two, and 1.31 points per game for top six.
For context, we’re averaging 2.54 ppg at the moment, and 2.27 ppg since start of 22/23 season.
Yes, still very early days, however it’s looking rather positive.
