Goes to show how transfer fee inflation is off the scale; Taricco went for £2m if I remember correctly. A generation later and young Leif could be worth £20m+. |

Will struggle to fit it in around the Lazio fixture. |

Montrose! Yes! Look out for their results every week. Have promised myself that I’ll go and watch them one day. All stems from my father’s first Hornby train being “The Duchess of Montrose.” |

Yes!!! That!! Was there. So many similarities. Grimsby had a corner in last five minutes, and played it straight back to their goalkeeper! |

I agree, and can absolutely see both sides of the story. Getting an away ticket is akin to getting membership at Lord’s at present; I’m a season ticket holder yet it could be 24 years until I get a sniff of an away ticket at Carrow Road….broadly the same time as it would take me to get membership of MCC if I started today. “Comp” tickets going to friends and family has been a concept since ticketed events have been around. I was offered two tickets by an unnamed member of staff, however was unable to attend! However….if I did have the necessary points and had travelled the length and breadth of the country this season in following the team, I’d be proper peed off if I was unable to get one for yesterday because (it is alleged) the manager of the local gym was able to go with a friend. |

Those “long throw” rumours! First game he went to throw one in, and I was expecting Steve Backley’s javelin; was more like Phil Tufnell. |

The opening paragraph in the excellent The Men Who Made The Town chapter for the 1980/81 season says something like, “Quite simply, during the 1980/81 season, Ipswich Town were the best side in the country, and probably in the top three sides in Europe.” Ok, biased as was written by Ipswich fans, however those words will always stay with me since I first read them as a 14-year old. An updated version would be excellent at some stage; the statistics themselves were a joy to flick through. There were one or two updates in the following seasons, however as we fell from grace nothing was subsequently produced, I believe. |

At the current run rate we’ll get 98 points, and could finish third. The previous highest points tally (in past 15 seasons) for such a position is 89 points, and average for second place is 83 points. Relentlessly bonkers. |

We’re putting together a run (apart from last week’s calamity) like we did under Lyall and Burley where we’re looking outstanding in the final few games, and we’ll hopefully, ultimately, get automatic promotion. This may be a rose-tinted, mis-placed, view of course! |
