Who would you like to see promoted from L1 and relegated from Champ?
at 07:15 9 Mar 2020

I'd like to see Portsmouth go up, they're getting stronger year on year. I think Coventry are gone now. Rotherham seem to be our bogey team so let's get shot of them too ! Sunderland still have parachutes this year, they won't next season so may be in a bit of turmoil. The three sides that come down are going to be tough whoever they are

VAR - Italians asking for manager challenges
at 10:08 17 Feb 2020

You misunderstood my point, I am arguing that the source of the challenges should come from the players / managers, not from the officials.

What do we think ? I like the idea, but I think they should have to specify what they are challenging to stop speculative challenges. I would also stop the reviews that currently happen that look for any reason to disallow a goal - if no one on the other team has an issue, why disallow it ?

Well deserved, the cost of rail travel baffles me though, so expensive when you compare it to flying and driving, especially when you consider that so many trains are absolutely packed.

Controversal Thought.....
at 06:43 20 Dec 2019

It would be great, though it would be a smallish pool I guess. I think cricket may see women playing with men quite soon. Before her mental health issues Sarah Taylor was on the brink of playing for Sussex and was widely seen as the best wicketkeeper in the world, male or female.

Not a great start for Labour and Corbyn today

I don't care if he watches it or not, I am bothered by the fact that he tried to lie about it.

Keren Barrett - Cambridge away, 1992, allowed their goal when their player basically barged into Craig Forrest

The Tories have just presented another riddle that I can't fathom
at 16:14 18 Nov 2019

I've seen what happened when Labour were in last time, and the rate was nearer 30% than 20%, companies changed their policies in order to legally move profit to lower tax jurisdictions. One medium sized company I know did that and I estimate it has cost the UK £1m over the last 10 years, and that is just one company.

Putting corporation tax rates up will be a mistake

at 15:18 18 Nov 2019

The tax take is not linear when presented against the rate, the take will rise to a point as the rate rises but will then fall as businesses move (or move profits) to lower tax jurisdictions.

The point at which it starts to fall is a point of debate of course, but given the rates in many comparable countries I think the sweet spot is probably close to where we are now.

As the school leaving age is now effectively 18 it should remain 18, and I don't agree that >65s should lose it entirely (possibly referendums on future issues, but not GE's - they are affected by a lot of policies in them)

The election posturing yesterday
at 05:32 30 Oct 2019

That really was unedifying yesterday in my view which thankfully the speaker stopped. All the parties using 16-17 year olds and EU citizens as pawns for their own political advantage. In my view that sort of issue should be passed to the electoral commission so they can be looked at impartially.

Clearly the date of the election was similar, the parties wanting either date due to perceived advantage from where students will be. I can't see how that could be removed from parliament though !

Seen a fair few people on Twitter saying it was never a penalty yesterday
at 09:45 22 Oct 2019

I thought he was awful, Edwards was fouled for their first goal as the ball came across, seemed to give them every marginal decision, Woolfy's goal was way over the line, not sure how he managed to red card Dobra when the play was nowhere near it and he wasn't looking at it - he didn't appear to consult the linesman either so just guessed. Very poor in my view

So of course taking no deal off the table was a bad strategy, if the EU would not let it happen, making them think we would was the best way of getting the best possible deal
