TBH Southampton v Portsmouth wasn't the best watch either |
 | Forum Thread | Charlton 1 Millwall 1 at 14:22 14 Sep 2025
Watched this yesterday. A proper hoof-fest of misplaced passes, crosses hitting the first man and terrible first touches. It would have made a Wycombe fan blush and look away even at the height of their dark arts days. Then the co-commentator (not sure who it was) said both teams were looking to "add that bit of quality" to take the next step to the Premier League. It was alarmingly detached from reality. Such a contrast to our game on Friday. |

It will take him time to adjust to the Championship from the level he has been playing. We've got a real asset here, let's nurture him rather than expect miracles straight up |

Ashton is what he is. Do I want someone as driven as him running my club after the years of underinvestment and chaos? Yes. Would I want to sit next to him on a long-haul flight? Probably not. But it does seem to me he can't win. Lots of people saying "where's Ashton" over the past three months (when tbh I'd rather he was working on signings than giving interviews to the media) and now it's "can't stand the sound of him". I know it's not the same people saying both things but as a CEO there's not much else he can do. |

I'd rather he ran the club and bought players. Which I expect is what he's been doing. Trying to work out at which point elements of our support went from fans to massively entitled crybabies. |

Spot on. And I find it odd that the people bemoaning the loss of the band of brothers team are often the same ones saying McKenna needs to be questioned - when he masterminded the whole thing! Fans have a choice now. We can either sit and moan and look back or look forward. Whatever happens now in terms of atmosphere etc is not set in stone, it's up to us. |

Funny how he wasn't an egomaniac when we had back to back promotions under the manager he earmarked and brought to the club, our commercial revenue skyrocketed and we landed almost all our transfer targets. Weird.... |

Statements like this are very weird, and I'm not sure what they are based on. Does he have more passion than Nunez and the Norwegian lad - who none of us have seen play - or people like Akpom, who we have hardly seen any of? How do we measure this passion. Is there a spreadsheet we can use? Does he have more passion than Jack Clarke who ran to get the ball for the penalty on Saturday and ignored the Derby players to score, or more passion than Cajuste, one of the best players in the division who we are very lucky to have on our books? What calculations go into this. Or is this just hyperbole born out of sentiment and emotion. Hard to say, hard to say. |

Exactly. People have a choice now. Either get behind the players that will be wearing a Town shirt, or sit there and moan safe in the knowledge that it will change absolutely nothing. We're not going to somehow buy them all back if enough people boo. |

Yep. Sam Morsy allowed to leave on a free and earn £100k a week. Must cry himself to sleep every night. |

People seem to be forgetting that in the Championship promotion season we conceded a shedload of goals, we just scored loads too. 4-3 v Rotherham, two defeats v Leeds where we shipped four, 4-2 v Preston, 3-2 v Cardiff, 3-3 with Hull, 4-3 v Blackburn, 3-2 v Bristol City, 3-2 v Saints, 2-2 at Brum, 2-2 at Rotherham etc. Clean sheets were a rarity. |

They've lost four games and got booed off by their own fans at Boro, the same fans who are calling for the manager's head. Very much doubt they will make the top six. |

Yes. If you listen to people none of Broadhead, Morsy, Luongo or Burgess should have left but please also sign loads of new players. Is maths even taught in schools these days? |
 | Forum Reply | Sellng or loaning our players to promotion rivals at 13:21 1 Sep 2025
It's not madness, it's reality. Incomings mean outgoings due to squad size and you can only sell to a team that wants to buy at a price they are willing to pay. We can't celebrate the arrivals of last week without expecting outgoings. It is sad the promotion squad has broken up, agreed, but nothing is perfect. |

You know this could get to 100 downvotes. Almost like you're talking nonsense |

And the small point that anyone who thinks we should ditch McKenna should be dismissed out of hand as not knowing anything about anything |
