If I remember rightly, the 2-2 just before Christmas (last time we played them at home) was a Saturday lunchtime so no guarantee it will be moved to the Sunday, which used to always be the case. |

One of our advantages in League One and the Championship in the consecutive promotions was to have a bench usually packed with attacking options. Try and keep out Chaplin, Burns and Edwards for an hour and then here come Hirst, Broadhead and Hutch. Good luck. We will remain stacked with attackers I imagine. It's a long season. |

Setting aside the money, I wonder how good a move this is for Omari. He's still raw and learning, whereas Mbuemo delivered for Brentford last season - 20 goals and seven assists. There would be immediate pressure to replace the assists/goals of the player you replace and I always think that's a lot on the shoulders of a young player. |

Morsy is not being singled out, he's a club legend. But if we did go up he will be another year older in a league that is unforgiving in terms of pace and strength. It's logical to let him and Massimo move on IF we have younger replacements incoming. |
 | Forum Reply | Arguably our best Striker, Midfielder and Defender all gone at 14:03 15 Jul 2025
Our transfer policy last season was largely to buy players who had excelled in the Championship. We'd have been competitive this season even if we hadn't added a single player due to the likes of Greaves, O'Shea, Palmer, Davis, Hirst, Sammy S etc. We often wait to get our main targets and most clubs do their business late in the window because one move often depends on another. The Prem club players are still on holiday. |

If the club has ambitions to go up and stay up this time, they need to address this and that's why I am not surprised to see Morsy (and Luongo) allowed to leave. With the rich owners and new ambitions comes a lack of sentiment. I much prefer this approach to holding onto players who were past their best but we couldn't afford the upgrades. Gutted that we won't get to see him in a Town shirt one last time and say a proper goodbye though. Nice move by the club to help his transfer be a smooth move, he's earned that. Big boots to fill. |

There is a difference between the right-wing tabloid/talk show obsession with "call another election, waaaah" and the reality of how the government is performing. Just getting on with stuff without too much fuss. The winter fuel payments one was a bum note, but in the whole debate over it I don't think the point was made clearly enough that there are many pensioners getting those payments who just don't need them, as in very wealthy or well-off people, and making sure it only goes to those who need it is a sensible plan, it just wasn't very well executed. Starmer is hardly a great public speaker or charismatic but I'll take that over the chaos of Boris and Truss. |

Not forgetting that the "16 years" is nonsense on stilts. It includes a season when they were in League One and we were in the Championship. And several other seasons when we didn't play each other. By their maths, two seasons ago, when we hit back to back promotions, earning the club millions and helping pay for a stadium refurb and players like Delap, is a "win" for them as they went unbeaten in the derbies. Tinpot. |

"Would take a point at Birmingham" I mean, maybe. But we're in June and hardly any transfer business has been done. By anyone, not just us. Predictions now are surely a fool's errand. |

Friend of mine went there travelling once, said the people were the friendliest he had ever met. A good example of why we should always differentiate between governments and those they rule. |

Have a read https://www.iranintl.com/en/202409229026 "Many Iranians argue that Western observers sometimes fail to grasp the extent of the suffering caused by these groups, which are not just abstract entities but have actively participated in violence, oppression, and the perpetuation of authoritarian rule. "Iranians also see hypocrisy in Islamists, who wish to impose ancient, draconian laws while simultaneously benefiting from modern technology. These groups preach ideologies that advocate practices from 1,400 years ago, such as polygamy, public flogging, and amputations. Yet, they readily use advanced communication devices, military technology, and even social media to further their cause." [Post edited 13 Jun 16:18]

I imagine a majority of Iranians hate what Israel is doing in Gaza, but would be happy if Israeli bombs and drones help remove the current regime. They tried peaceful protest, and many were detained, tortured and murdered. |
