Attendance today any ideas?
at 13:17 22 Jan 2022

I think given the new manager has had a (mostly) decent start and the owners have put their hands in their pockets to get Walton on a full-time contract this week plus there hasn't been a home game for best part of three weeks.....I'd be disappointed with less than 20k.

But doubt Accrington will bring many. Which won't help.

I'm not badmouthing Brexiters, I'm just saying a man who writes two columns offering different views on such a huge issue is not a man who has a strongly-held view either way.

And many, many people who have worked with him have said for years he is a blatant opportunist so we shouldn't be surprised how things have panned out.

That's what he WROTE. The woman who was interviewed doubted he believed most of it.

Bear in mind he wrote two newspaper columns, one in favour of remain and one in favour of leave. You don't do that if you have strong beliefs one way or the other.

It's almost like now, when he simply cannot believe half the words that come out of his own mouth.

A year or so ago I heard a radio interview with a woman who shared an office with Boris Johnson when he was working in Brussels. She said he is, at heart, a fan of the UK being in Europe.

But it suited his career to pick a side in the Brexit debate, and here we are.

As he's hopefully now on his way out, it's time...

5 There's a letter in the Times being shared on Twitter that makes the point that on the day of the 7/7 bombings in London in 2005, Johnson - then editor - didn't want to cancel the Spectator's summer party which was due to be held that night. Sat sulking in his office, the letter writer claims, until someone else decided having a party when so many had died probably wasn't appropriate.

But yeah, our generations' Churchill. A patriot. B**locks

Club ‘anthem’!
at 21:45 12 Jan 2022

Charlton sing it, about mist rolling in off The Thames, and at least it makes sense for them as they were homeless as a club for years.

Annoys me when Forest sing it, as they have to make "City Ground" fill four syllables so they stretch the word City. And they have never been under threat of leaving their stadium like Charlton were. Unless I missed it.

United fans call Wednesday fans pigs. Not sure it's the same in the other direction.

Might be because Bristol City are having a terrible season. Almost as if Ashton wasn't the dead weight they made him out to be.

Agreed. Swindon fans I know say his finishing has got better and he's an absolute battering ram but he has plenty still to learn in terms of control and passing. Best leave him there

Why we shouldn't just shrug about the Lincoln call-off
at 15:32 30 Dec 2021

A starting point would be clubs being asked a bit more by their own local media how many players have tested positive for Covid and when, rather than just reprinting/broadcasting what they say as gospel.

And while I hate to give them credit, look at all those rubbish players Norwich are having to field just to fulfil their festive games.

It's the not knowing. Would they have to play mostly kids? There's no transparency. They just say "we cannot fulfil the fixture" but what does that mean and where's the oversight?
