Burns Named in League One Team of the Season
I think that Burgess was in the previous seasons team of the year and he has been a quality signing for us. I expect our scouting department will know which of this years winners might be out of contract or otherwise available.
Home Matches Now Not All-Ticket
You should be able to use your friends ticket but obviously need to prove your own covid test and id to go with it
Dartford 0-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
The club needs to get money in for those 3 to help fund the wages of the new players. 60% of the transfer fees received will fund the new players wages in a gamble to get us up this season and then away from the salary cap in div 1
Barnsley Linked With Downes
Isn’t the “if you can find a club you can go” just part of the rebuild strategy and keeping within the 60% revenue rule. Presumably any transfer fees received would go towards the revenue figure which means 60% of it will be available to pay wages for players who on the whole will be brought in on free transfers.
Nobody that is decent will be allowed to go for silly money. I expect PC would be happy to keep the likes of Downes, Bishop, Woolfenden but if they can command a decent transfer fee he will sacrifice them to get a good player in on a free.
Bishop and Smallwood Linked
Spanish blue blood - I don’t think we can just bring in players from Spain, Holland or Germany. Brexit means they have to get a work permit and not sure what the criteria is but it used to be that you had to have so many international caps to qualify. But we can look at Scottish (for now), Welsh and Irish players.
Shrews Match Postponed Due to Frozen Pitch
Only referees call games off. And it’s usually for safety reasons. PL may have thought the pitch would be dangerous for the players as bits were frozen. Get a grip. You may not support PL (maybe you didn’t support McCarthy or Roy Keane or Paul Jewel or even Burley at the end) but don’t knock him for the weather or other things out of his control.
Gibbs Already on Premier League Radar as Town Offer New Deal
All premier league will have extensive scouting networks and everyone will know of every young player with potential. They will don't forget have lots of young players with potential already. Its good news that we have at least 2 who are deemed good enough to be on premier league clubs radar.
Lets hope we can get them signed up on decent length deals.
PL has shown with his selections that he is happy to play youngsters in the first team. The path to the first team and then perhaps earning a move to a bigger club is available for any youngster who is good enough. However, the package available at a premier league club even if you don't make it is also an attractive lure.
We can rest assured that ME will be doing all he can to retain our top young talent.
Blue Action Banner Urges Evans Action
That's correct - for every £1 Marcus puts in he is able to offset the loss against any profits his other group companies make. That means he save about 20p for every £1 he puts in. So the £8m odd he puts in every year only really costs him about £6.4m
If he had a few other investments that make that sort of return he would soon be bust!
Blue Action Banner Urges Evans Action
I don't think the majority of supporters agree with the "Lambert/Marcus Evans out calls".
Lambert is a proven manager with loads of experience (we should all know that at least) and ME is a benevolent owner who is not in it for the limelight and if its an investment he must have a very long term view to persist with it.
Happy for Blue Action to make their case and demonstrate/put up banners etc but I think the vast majority of fans want to see the club thrive BUT accept the reality of our situation in the modern era of football where huge sums of money are involved at the highest level.
It would be interesting to know how many fans are signed up to Blue Action. I expect somebody on here will tell me.
I love the club and like many have been supporting them zillions of years and enjoyed life under Robson. I seem to recall many supporters throwing their cushions onto the pitch, ripping up their season tickets and demanding his sacking. We always say we want nice football and want to see the youngsters come through the academy. Well its certainly happening now and to be fair that's what ME said a while back. The future is the academy so lets sit back and enjoy. At the end of the day it is just a hobby/sport for us fans so please don't get bent out of shape by any of it.
And please stop being so negative ALL the time. I rely on TWTD for my Town fix but I am sure lots are driven away by the constant negativity and that's not good for Phil or the future of this website.
