Work from home if you can......again
at 09:01 22 Sep 2020
Our office has been opened up a little, 25% capacity, but but no expectation that people should go in. Still encouraged to wfh.
My brothers work have been strongly encouraging people to get back in the office. This in London too.
Pubs to shut by 10pm from Thursday
at 08:26 22 Sep 2020
Thing is though, you, me and every other poster on here knew that letting people back into pubs would end up with this problem. So why did the government do it when surely they knew too?
We'll no doubt hear some familiar line today about how they couldn't have foreseen that people would get drunk and ignore social distancing and it is the public's fault.
We all know that huge sections of our population are selfish/ dumb/ idiots so let's not act surprised when they confirm it.
Monday night dinner thread

What's being served up on twtd dinner tables tonight?
Just made myself a delicious chicken noodle soup. Loads of fresh ginger, chilli and garlic. Mixed veg. Soup based around miso paste, soy, honey and mirin. Bit of 5 spice added too, and a splash of sesame oil.
Properly punchy tastes.

There are a few on here that have made a post that has come to almost define them, that they probably even regret as it gets brought up so often.
I'm think J2 and cooking - literally any post on here about dubious food comes back to a mention of him.
Dolly and suits.
Sitters and shoes.
Which other posters have made posts that they probably regret?

Solid enough start and plenty to be positive about.
I do feel that both Rovers and Wigan were very poor teams though and we'll have to see how we perform against better teams. I doubt our back 5 will have an easier game all season than they had on Saturday, they really were utterly lacking any attacking threat at all.
The real positive is that we have created chances though. Albeit it was only really in the last 25 minutes on Saturday with a lot of toil to little effect until then.

According to the note underneath it is the same 8 month period for each year.

Or to put it another way, higher than every year since 2007....
As a stats man I'm always interested by stuff like this. The narrative I need to see, is what happened between 2000 and 2007 for such a significant year on year reduction?
Band shirt nerds thread!?

My group of mates all bought the 'demand the right to be unique' shirt at their corn exchange gig in the mid 90s.
We all wore them for the Almighty gig at the same venue the following week. Because bants.

- Currently own
Probably about 30. I nearly always buy one at a gig if there is a design I like.
- Oldest you still own.
Probably Fatso Jetson/Yawning Man legends of the desert combined shirt. Think its 8 years or so, due to buying so many shirts I can't be too sentimental and need to donate older stuff to charity shops.
- Wish you still had.
No specific shirt, but I had a load of classic metal band shirts in the early 90s that are now sadly long gone.
- Never had but wish you did.
Various Monster Magnet bullgod designs.
- Once owned and regret wearing it massively.
There are pictures of me wearing the Pantera Vulgar Display of Power album art shirt for a family Christmas meal in the mid 90s. I loved the shirt, but not exactly festive and I was old enough to know better!
- What you might buy next.
Whenever I'm next able to go to a gig I will definitely be buying a shirt.

I don't follow teams too closely in this division, but I think I'm right in thinking that their record since Garner took over in the middle of last season is pretty dire?
Who has been the best Bond?

ITV's additional channels would be a lost without Bond reruns. That and Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz on rotation 3 times a week each.
Just to confirm before I sign off for the evening

This is correct, but worth noting that there are some on here massively entrenched at the other end too. Almost any observations that were critical of yesterday have been jumped on, even though it is a forum where the whole point is to discuss the game. It is like a virtual post match pub.
2 wins out of 2, with zero conceded is a great start, and we can be cautiously optimistic, but lets not pretend that there haven't been some concerning aspects to both performances.

I think it is the position we are lacking most on for this formation.
Drinan obviously played well in a couple of games. Hawkins I wasn't too impressed with yesterday, albeit our performance improved when he was on. The problem with those two though is it relies on our midfielders and wide players getting a lot more goals than usual, not sue either will be chipping in too many goals themselves.
We know Norwood can score, and he will put in the effort, but he was a bit lost yesterday and as Marcus Stewart repeatedly said, it isn't the position he is best suited for and probably exposes his limitations.
Jackson would give us decent options for the occasional ball over the top, but will be hopeless as the focal point for build up play that this formation needs to work effectively.
I said yesterday, but I wonder what options there might be in the loan market up front?
