Where do you get the idea we're planning on playing a 4141 formation? I don't think McKenna has played that once in his 4 years here. Plus we have a squad full of attacking midfield options. [Post edited 16 Jul 15:36]

2 ways of looking at the policy of signing young English players for, arguably, high prices. In the first instance, it failed at keeping us up, albeit im not sure we would have stayed up regardless with tge amount of change we needed to make. We may have made a better attempt at staying up though! On the other hand, in terms of protecting the club against longer term financial issues, and in terms of emulating the Brighton/Brentford model it's looking like we're seeing it pay off. Assuming Omari does end up leaving for around £40m, that will be £70m received for 2 players who cost around £40m combined. A good return and money to reinvest and go again. And we still retain a good squad to build from including a few 'high potential' players. It's arguable that seeing things through a return on investment lens is pretty grim, and not the football model that we want to see, but it is the reality of the stature we have now. And despite my reservations about modern football, I'd take this every week over the sh1t we endured over the 15 years or so before the takeover. |

Same. He a 100% effort kind of player, but has major limitations on the technical side of the game. A few on here went a bit ott with criticism of him, but the reality is that he's not a player that any of our promotion rivals would have in their squad, even as 3rd choice. |

I'm usually too busy at work to properly follow this place during the working day, but by chance have a quieter day today. Good timing! |

I get that, and I work in the public sector so very much aware of the context, but referencing movement from 17 years ago won't get sympathy from the great British public. Whether it should get sympathy is another matter, that you neatly summed up in your post! |

Yeah, that's probably fair. It's all so frustrating. Labour basically going out of their way, on a number of issues, to alienate their core support, to try and win votes from people who will never vote for them anyway. Alongside this you've got the unions calling for strike action on a pay offer of 5.4%, which will get almost no sympathy from the public at all. All of it laying the ground for a reform government which will make things worse for all concerned. Absolute fooking shambles. Edit: for clarity, I support unions and the role they play, but they need to pick the right battles. Demanding an inflation busting pay rise when the public finances are a mess is just daft. Not sure why I'm bothering engaging, but..... Net zero was a conservative policy, not labour. And blaming labour for the Orwell bridge is the stretch of all stretches. [Post edited 14 Jul 13:09]

Quite a few on here (not me, if I'm honest) flagged the m8dfield as our biggest problem to fix in the January window last season. The longer the season went on, the more obvious it was that they were right. Phillips was a huge disappointment. Luongo, good player though he was for us, not at that level. Taylor has struggled to make an impact since he joined. Cajuste great with the ball, but sometimes left us exposed. Morsy started the season well, but seemed to fade the longer the season went on. No great surprise that we're likely to see a few bits of business in that position, just need to get the right players through the door! |

I assume because it would have committed us to a salary that the clubs looking to buy him won't have been able to match. |

I agree with this - bits like this Sting and Phil Collins bit just fall a bit flat on massive Wembley stage. Amazing performances, don't get me wrong, but it's really low key. |

Bit annoying that they are only playing selected songs. Means we only got one from Nik Kershaw, who I'm a big fan of. |
