 | Forum Thread | What won't you miss about the EPL? at 10:13 9 Apr 2025
Apart from finding the football quite dull, which is not specific to us, for me it's TV driven kick off times and patronising pundits but I'm sure that there are a few more. |
 | Forum Thread | 'If they were the finished product..... at 21:07 8 Mar 2025
they wouldn't be at Ipswich Town'?? I can see the logic with respect to the loanees but surely rather a depressing insight if that represents the view of management about our own players. Or does it just confirm that we are a nursery for the bigger clubs? |
 | Forum Thread | Armband hysterics at 23:51 3 Dec 2024
Can I suggest that a new category of posts for LGBT+ discussion be created by the board moderators so that there is a special place for everyone who wishes to continue with the discussion to do so and leave the rest of us, who share equal protections under the law but may not feel the need to get hysterical about them, to focus on the topics most relevant to a discussion forum ostensibly about football? Or perhaps I should be barred for not being sufficiently empathetic. |

Couldn't agree more with the posts below. If anything is likely to suck the atmosphere from the stadium it's a loud over excited grown up who clearly likes the sound of his own voice being given the controls to the PA system. His performance is both embarrassing and ineffective. Get rid, please or at least reduce his prescription. |
 | Forum Thread | Why do we presume to know the mind of the man? at 10:58 25 May 2024
The talk of KMc's future is fascinating, if slightly hysterical. We don't know the man's life plans or career ambitions. All we are doing is assuming that somehow being well rewarded, enormously liked and a desired component of the overall investment strategy of the owners, is insufficient for him. How very modern an assumption. Some people are very content with their roles, loyal to their organisations, happy with their family being settled in a particular location. Admittedly the market is much more fluid than at any previous time but maybe, just maybe he is quite happy with his current role and risk profile thank you very much. As for the owners being here, it's a major investment and they are overseeing it in person at a point in the year where on-field distractions and preparation for games are temporarily not competing with the need for consideration of strategy, finance and the other demands of running a business. Que sera sera, but not worth tying ourselves up in knots about. |
 | Forum Thread | 5-0 and we still don't sing at 21:16 16 Mar 2024
What the hell is it about Portman Road? I've been going for 45 years and can honestly say that currently the 'support' does not warrant what is going on on it. Is it that Blue Action have moved? Is it that all the songs have become chintzy proto pop rip offs? Is it the disconnect between upper and lower tiers- especially in the North? Is it that we are so in awe of the wonders on the pitch that we get tongue tied or complacent? I've got all Victor Meldrew about this before but today was crap and people really need to sort it out? I know it's not just me because all away fans remark on it. Maybe football is, after all, the new religion. Nobody sings in church either. Well done Town. Zero for effort from the home fans. Again. |
 | Forum Thread | Mark Ashton at 07:52 14 Feb 2024
Last season, and at the start of this one, I took a great deal of comfort from Mark Ashton's frequent interviews and press releases. In many ways he acted as a shield against too much media pressure on some players and KMcK. Unless I have missed it, though, he seems to have gone very quiet this year, other than in the programme- which not everyone buys nowadays and is quite expensive for what it is. Without wanting to impose on his very busy community/ ground development/ squad evolution schedule, it would be reassuring to hear from him re: the developing speculation over KMcK. He can't respond to everything which whoever is behind Football League World or other unaccountable gossip pages put out there, however it does seem that the wider media pick up on their stuff and run with it, thereby creating the risk of stories becoming self-fulfilling. On the current one perhaps the club could give some reassurance (if any is to be had). This would at least counter what I felt was a pretty lukewarm response from the boss when asked about the position. |
 | Forum Thread | Match reports- a bug bear at 23:28 1 Nov 2023
Like most other readers, I hope, I find your match reports thoughtfully written with a good balance of positivity when warranted or, as tonight, calling it as it was. Thank you. I have one request, though. Would you please stop padding out descriptions of play involving individual Town players with a reminder of which clubs they used to play for or from which they are on loan? It might be okay when they sign but irrelevant after that. Perhaps I'm missing the sympathy that, to use tonight's example 'On 32, Harness ...... the former Pompey man' (poor, misguided fellow) did such and such. Assuming that I'm not, though, could you edit this stuff out? It's sometimes interesting wrt opponents, particularly, those with a Norwich connection, but really superfluous for our players. They play for us, where they were before is of no importance. I'll get my coat, which used to belong to my brother, etc etc |

81 online at 22:58 on a Friday. A psychologist might have a field day with this. Alternatively perhaps we are on the eve of battle. |
 | Forum Thread | Sing when we're winning at 16:37 19 Apr 2023
Both the Manager and the CEO highlighted, in last night's programme, the contribution which the atmosphere can make to the team's endeavours on the pitch. Am I alone in thinking that, given you could hear the players calling one another for much of the game, last night we didn't quite pay heed to their request? This was a bug bear of mine when I used to post on here 20 plus years ago but does anyone have any ideas as to why we can be so flat at times? Sure we have the drummers who are great (if a bit Palace for this old-schooler) but I am a bit concerned that we haven't been able to create a true fortress, as envisaged by the club years ago, and that this has been a theme since Robson famously moaned about it in the 70s. Is it the architecture of the new stands, which seem to dissipate rather than project sound? Perhaps it's nerves? Maybe just that we can't stand up any more? Whatever the reason, it would be great if we were to action what perhaps the club is asking of us and turn the volume up. Be the twelfth man rather than the scorer! COYB |
