Hi Tractor boys, Bristol city fan here. We are getting properly fed up with our useless head coach and his 'tombola' team selections and one of the names fancied as a potential replacement amongst our support is Mick McCarthy. I appreciate things didn't end well for him or yourselves during his tenure but was he any good before the finance was withdrawn? His previous managerial record seems very good so, given we are able, within reason, to spend a bit, would he be a decent fit if our job became available and what are your thoughts on him before the last couple of seasons at your place? Thanks. FaroutWest. [Post edited 12 Nov 2018 23:31]

We, at City, were thinking the same about our fixtures during September, Reading, Wolves, Norwich and yourselves away plus Derby and Bolton at home as well as a cup game against Stoke. We expected maybe 4 or 5 points and a cup exit plus mostly defeats yet we went unbeaten during September winning at Reading and your place, unlucky to only draw at Wolves, drawing at Carrow rd, beating Stoke and Bolton plus tearing Derby to pieces in the best City performance I've seen in years! If we can do it, so can you. Be positive and you can do it as you're a good side. |

Fair play to this and all the comments but City were deserved winners today IMHO and some comments come across as quite bitter WTGR. To win consistently, like yourselves, isn't a fluke, you just had a bad day and couldn't handle the pace, most couldn't yet have had nothing good to say about us. We'll see I guess. UP THE CITY |

Famara did cost £5.3M and Nathan Baker over £2M but the rest were relatively cheap TBH. Elliason who was going to come on when Matty Taylor did come on, cost around £2M but he's hardly played. Wright was £1/2M, Patterson was £1/2M, Brownhill was £300K as was Taylor, O'Dowda was around £1.5M. Your £10M isn't far out to be fair but it's all covered by sales / clauses. We invested in youth and, at the moment, it seems to be working but we, better than anyone, know it's just a good start, that's all. [Post edited 30 Sep 2017 21:47]

Not actually correct as we received £15M for Kodjia from Villa. We also got £6M when Bolasie went to Everton. I think we're actually in profit for transfers. We're looking good at the mo but expecting realisation to kick in any time soon. |

As promised, I thought I would stick my head in and wish you well. The ref wasn't good for you today and I thought our 3rd was offside but I do think, wtgr, we deserved the victory over all. If I don't get any replies, I'll pop in again before the match at our place. All the best. |

I'm a Kingswood lad originally so have fallen out of Chasers many a time! It's like a right of passage to us east Bristolians. Play football? Nah, I was a rugby boy due to the school I attended many years ago but, funnily enough, my lad played for Warmley rangers for years until he discovered women and beer! As for the metrobus, what a monstrous waste of money, an absolute joke! It only goes to certain places and the nearest to me is 3 miles away in Emersons. It's supposed to stop people using their cars but how am I supposed to get to it? In the bloody car! The poxy mayor is on about an under ground now, this in a city where the 'ring' road doesn't go all the way around the city. A total joke! Enjoy the game people and I'll be back on here regardless, win lose or draw to offer congratulations / sympathy. COYR. |

All fair comments and Barrow Gurney is a lovely part of the world. As for Tuesday, I thought we were poor by recent standards, probably our worst performance for a while. Bolton came and shut up shop a bit, men behind the ball etc and, personally, I thought it was a boring game relative to the way we've been playing. You're bang in form so anything could happen tomorrow IMHO, we'll have to wait and see I guess but I'm still expecting a narrow home win, 2-1 maybe. |

I'm from Longwell Green C10, deep in 'enemy' country! I wonder if you've been to the Gate post development as it's a very different place to what it used to be, still pretty partisan and actually quite noisy now we've moved our 'shouty' lot. As for Luke Freeman, he was out of contract in the summer and would have gone for nothing so it's £250K we wouldn't have had. In all honesty, Luke flattered to deceive at times with us and never really found his feet at Championship level. I wish him well though, it's just a pity he's working for the chief gashead at QPR . :( Matty Taylor is not what we expected at all. We thought we were getting a 'finisher' but he's a far better footballer than I / we expected. He's been injured for a while and is just back but has some serious competition for the front roles with Famara Diedhou, Cauley Woodrow, the unbelievable Bobby Reid (average at best midfielder, excellent striker) and Milan Djuric after the same spots. I would guess Fammy and Bobby Reid would start tomorrow with Taylor probably making an appearance from the bench. The boy's got a brain and the fact we screwed the gas over by getting him for such a paltry sum makes it even more satisfying! :) Keep an eye out for a youngster we've got on loan from West Brom, Leko. He's going to be some player and is lightening quick and a real threat, very inconsistent as he's only 18 but he's going to be a star one day. In all honesty, I reckon you'll turn us over tomorrow but we'll give it a damn good go. [Post edited 29 Sep 2017 13:14]

Hi, City fan here. I just felt I had to register to defend my club / it's supporters. We most certainly have never reached or got close to any supposed potential and have indeed spent the vast majority of the last 35 years bouncing between the 2nd and 3rd tier, hardly inspiring I agree. What I would say is everyone has to come from somewhere and with the newly developed stadium and the backing of a local £Billionaire, we're probably in a better position to try and reach the £££ league than we've ever been. Nobody, apart from a few deluded souls think it's going to be easy as there are far bigger clubs at this level, some with parachute money. Personally, I enjoy the Championship as it's a blinding division (I appreciate you've been here a long time) and it would be nice to finally feel we belong / can compete here, something we now feel we can do. As for Saturday, I'm expecting a real test and anything we get will be hard earned at a ground we never get anything at! All I will say is that we (like yourselves) are in decent nick and are playing a high pressing game with a very young, fluid and high energy side. Will it be enough? I doubt it but we're vastly improved from last season's garbage and we'll give you a game. It should be a decent watch TBH on Saturday! [Post edited 28 Sep 2017 14:38]
