Sunderland's "black cats' came from a competition that was held to pick a new nickname fairly recently. For that reason I don't like it as it seems contrived rather than organic, which is how I feel nicknames should be. In that respect The Tractor Boys is much better, no-one decided upon it as such, it just came about through other fans being disparaging about us. |

That saga with work permits when he first came in, what a palava. Got to admit I was hoping he wouldn't the permit and would be shipped straight back.
How wrong was I.
Did a great job for us in the end.
Hurst did do well with him and KJ, albeit they were both slow burners and not up to the championship when first bought in. |

Polite reminder that Shaun Baily, whose only notable achievement was losing to Sadiq Khan in the London Mayoral election, was rewarded with a life peerage with a seat in the HoL, by Boris Johnson.
One thing is for sure the honours system is not fit for purpose, is open to corruption and should either be abolished, or overhauled so that genuinely deserving people get honoured rather than the system being used as a vehicle for political patronage. |
