We keep losing more than getting beaten but....
at 23:23 21 Dec 2024

Newcastle were probably the best today and our performance one of the worst this season. It's been said a lot on here, but we can't keep giving teams in the PL a head start.

First goal - Isak obviously the danger man left in too much space as O Shea gets dragged into the box
Third goal - O'Shea to Muric and asked for a quick on-two out to the right but he stalls and gives a hospital pass a bit like Hladky at Hull last season
Fourth - 2 v 5 in the box. Sweet back heel but Isak in too much space again

At the other end, we're too slow & predictable in attack.

I keep thinking we're so much better than these performances are showing and it looks like the lads are looking lost in some games.

Al Hamadi?

Delap was marked well all game. Would it have been worth playing AH at 70 minutes instead of Clarke or even dare I say, Delap? They would have planned for Delap but probably not AH.

How many tickets are available for home games?
at 10:11 18 Nov 2024

Logged on this morning at 09.30 and when the queue started at 10 I was at 4300.

I thought there were about 5,000 available after 21,500 season tickets, 3,000 away fans, 500 misc.

We can do it if we wise up
at 12:35 3 Nov 2024

Just watched the Leicester goal a few times over. If we fix the basics, we'll be fine.

Morsy could/should have run it into touch once he knew he was going nowhere and had no support. Wes challenged too soon, had the legs on their guy and could have shepharded him down the line. The pass inside split the two on the right then Clarke was too slow to get back to help leaving Vardy in space between three.

Lots of positives, we still have goals all over the team and it was great to see Leif bag one yesterday. Chaplin remains key to the attack and ensures we get the best from Omari.

Asleep for the first three and eyes shut for the last but.....
at 12:00 27 Oct 2024

I thought we were way more positive yesterday and dare I say, the style from the back was more decisive without Morsy (who I like a lot). Seemed to release Philips.

However, we got done twice with fast passing like Liverpool did on the right at PR. We weren't ready for the fast free kick that caught out Harry and their fourth was a cock up all round.

We look better with Chaplin. Hirst and Delap both great. Delap probably even more effective from the bench against tiring defences.

Yesterday felt like Ipswich last season. We're very close to clicking and will get to sticking it to Shearer et al soon.

How many tickets are available for non-season ticket holders?

I messed up on the season ticket last year so I have to queue for the home games. Curious to know how many are available.

When the queue opened I was 3600

West Ham might have been our Leeds moment from last season. Something of a wake-up call.

The boss needs to work on the defence and the first five minutes of each half because that's been leaky all of last season as well.

The performances against Fulham, Villa and Brighton show the capability of the team.

Everton will be interesting

Wolfie's cousin

At Beamish museum outside Chester-Le-Street last week I saw a chap wearing a Town shirt who replied in a thick Geordie accent. Turns out he is Wolfie's cousin. Nice chap. Small world.

The stuff of dreams
at 12:48 5 May 2024

My first game was home to Newcastle 1975 (lost 3-0) and I was hooked. I’m still as daft about the game today and leap around like a lunatic when we score.

Here are just some of my highlights from this amazing season:

Taylor’s screamer against Wolves
Burn’s goal of the season
Crowd singing Sarmiento’s name as we left The King Power
Millwall away
Hull away & Omari's goals
The drive back from Blackburn (8 hours to get there but 3.5 to get home)
Chaplin rousing the team after going 2-1 down v Southampton and their reaction
Sarmiento’s winner at home v Southampton
Lewis & Mikey in SBR Lower – top lads
Alex in SBR upper – seeya next season

Ipswich Town Football Club, all the players, manager, CEO and staff. What a team and what a year.

Town 4 - 1 up with 10 minutes to go. Huddersfield equalise with last kick of the game. Everyone happy.

Never mind...

It was a good show last night playing a good team and the lads were ahead three times, hit the crossbar and had one cleared off the line.
Compare that to Leeds at QPR to maintain some perspective. I'd rather have seen a win last night but since I couldn’t get a ticket to Coventry, looks like we'll all be at the party on Saturday.
Best noise since Millwall away in my opinion.

Reminds me of Barnsley away last season.
The lads will be pumped up, rested and going for it. Hoping for a great night.
Couldn't get Coventry tickets but will be at PR or Huddersfield.

Kevin Beattie memory
at 10:25 9 Apr 2024

Back in about 1975 I went to an evening match v Leeds with my best mate, Andy Bull and despite being 4'10, I persuaded him to go to the noisy section in the North Stand for a look-see. Naturally I could see naff all so he commentated:
Beattie's tackled him on the half way line, he's running with the ball, he's got past another one , he's ...........
At that point it went nuts as the shot hit the back of the net.
Those were great times and this season is right up there with them.
