I'm not against change, I just think Chaplin leaving has torn a hole in the club. |

KM sidelined the core of the squad that were used to winning last year by picking too many new faces and they lost all the telepathy that got them promoted. We’ve now let Chaplin go - the beating heart of the club and in my view and the one most capable of changing the game. The previous two seasons were the best for decades but last year fell short of expectation. We have become predictable and fragile. KM has built one team and now has to build another. That’s a tall order for anyone. |

...and deduct the cost of the players we sold. John Madeski said if you want to make a small fortune from football, start with a large one. Tough business. |

Sitting in the upper west stand let alone with a pillar for company is an unpleasant experience regardless of the opposition. |

He played well in front of Leif. It looked a better left wing set up. |

Jack needs to get physically bigger and stronger. He's too easily nudged off the ball. He should also forge forward more often and especially into the box because he'll dance around, bag a few or get some penalties. |

I walked from New Street with three City fans through the back streets of Digbeth. Decent chaps. Turned right afterwards and went back the same way alone. Not a problem and had a chat with a couple of City fans on the way. On my own and away from the nutter end but nothing adverse. Some of their fans were unnecessary in the ground but Digbeth looks like a great place after hours. |

One closing down the man with the ball and one covering his move. Simple, disciplined & effective. We've been too often one-on-one this season and been punished for it. We saw their attack on the break being lethal as well. |

Credit where it's due. Top striker who can score with both feet and looks like a fun guy to have around. Best memory was the season they won the league and he hit that volley against Liverpool from outside the box that came over his shoulder. I'd like him to get to 200 and if it's against us, let it be the consolation when they're 4-0 down or with the last kick of the season away at Bournemouth. |

It was almost identical to Sarmiento's goal against Southampton last season. Through four players and the keeper was beaten. Sometimes, you need to credit the goalscorer. |

Amnesia kicks in by about Wednesday when anticipation for the weekend match starts to grow. Match day starts with a scan of the fixtures, permutations considered, line-ups and systems, then it's into the car for the three hours to Portman Road. Radio 5 interspersed with some banging tunes usually from a bygone age get the mood up as anticipation morphs into expectation the further along the A12 I get. The walk to the ground brings back all the memories of that kid who was awestruck on first ever sight of a league ground. Then 20 minutes after kick off, reality kicks in and it's a different world. While appreciating the speed & skill of the footballers these days, the sanitised PL game has improved a lot, lost some bits and lacks the balance needed for competition. This season has had many high points and we've been ahead many times which feeds the feeling that we're good enough and close but no cigar. Then it's back down the A12 with R5 match reports, a bit of 606 and cheering myself up with thoughts of how much worse it must be as a fan of The Top Six. You'd go into every game needing a win, into most expecting a win and occasionally being disappointed. You sell your season ticket to tourists for all but a few games each year. They might get half a dozen matches each season that have some feeling of excitement. It's Monday now, so only two days for amnesia to kick in. Looking forward to a few wins before the end of May and a lot of fun next year |

I've often wondered why Leif is a left back because he looks better on the wing. |

I'm actually a fan of them. Gives me a chance to get home before 6pm. 5.30 kick off's in Blackburn or Hull are quite a drive though [Post edited 6 Apr 17:47]

There were times that I thought I could do better than Muric and I can't even reach the crossbar |

Good assessment in my opinion. I'm more disappointed than gutted because we're better than what we've shown. The leaks & mistakes remain from last season while PL coaches had us sussed early on. The team is definitely better than last season though I do believe KM gutted the core, made too many changes and we lost the telepathy & heart that got us promoted twice. The team and management will have learnt and have the ability to bounce back then hold onto a respectable position in the PL, but management will need to adapt better by reading the game and controlling the play. I like the Championship as a league and most teams have a chance. It's fun to get promoted to PL but it remains a league that only a few will ever be able to win. I miss the old First Division |
