Ashton Hopeful New Names Will Arrive Fairly Soon
at 14:42:29

Suffolk N Proud. The best league one players want to play in the championship. Newcastle had a budget for wages we can’t match relatively. You do understand the wage cap don’t you? It doesn’t matter what we can pay in fees, the wage budget is 60% of turnover and the new owners cash doesn’t count to the wage cap. Burns seems a good signing, and evans? Hardly pulled up trees last year but he may be a good addition. Given we need another 12 or more signings to match the claims they have made I’m not sure we can do what you think we can.

Being paid thousands of pounds a week doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be treated with respect. Those claiming lack of effort are way wide of the mark. We were up the top end in lots of the stats when it came to distances covered.

ArnieM… I take it you either lack any level of empathy for human beings or have never managed a team of people?

It’s worth pointing out that Flynn Downes has been open about suffering from depression. A good man manager wouldn’t just know that telling someone like that to go away won’t get the beat out of him, but risks his mental health. Man management isn’t easy because it’s about understanding the individual and working out how to get the best out of them. As I’ve mentioned some people not just players need a kick up the backside and some need a pat on the back. I grew up in Nottingham and cloughie was as good at this is not better than Bobby. Evans is using a sledgehammer and expects the players to respect him rather than fear him. I’ve my reservations about a group of people, the new owners, ceo and chairman who are new to the club taking the word of a manager who is new to the club as gospel. If it’s harsh to judge Cook on 16 games coaching and managing it’s harsh for him to judge the players in such a short space of time given none of the above have a good understanding of the players. I hope I’m wrong but we could be the next Bristol City

hoppy…. I meant I don’t recall him, not that he didn’t. I assume you watched that game and came away raving about him, couldn’t get him out of your head. All I meant was he didn’t stand out. I couldn’t have named their line up as I’m not Rain Man, and he wouldn’t have been someone therefore I thought would be great in our side.

PhilTWTD. Been a supporter of this site for more than 20 years, met you a few times at away matches and I’m glad to hear you have sources backing this up. I just wonder if you are in support of this carpet bombing of the squad. I have a contact, one I won’t describe as I know the club reads this site. There is a feeling Cook is on a power trip partly because he’s been given Carte Blanche by the new owners. As I’ve managed teams and huge projects I know that not everyone is a kick up the backside person, not everyone is a pat on the back person. Man Management in involves a balancing act between the group and the individual to get the best results. You do understand that players are also friends with each other? I resigned from a job once where I was treated fine, because of the treatment of a colleague. This is ham fisted and crude if it’s supposed to motivate.

I don’t recall if he played against us but smaller squad means we don’t need players who have had two knee ligament injuries last season and will be 30 not long into the season. I don’t really recall any buzz about him in his Wigan days although the local news says he looked a class act when fit. He’s a while of being able to train anyway.

I am sceptical about anything on social media without a source or quote, however given KOA have stated that some players were told if they didn’t find a club they wouldn’t be involved in Pre-season this seems believable. It is weird however that Drinan isn’t on the list and smacks of possibly a fake where someone has forgotten him. Although if we see he’s leaving in the next 24 hours?

When Johnson said “roster” was he also including young pros like Crowe? Or simply those who’d been involved in a squad. I’m sure there are a handful of others on pro contracts not on that list.

Hawkins: I Just Want to Get Out There and Play Football
at 14:55:36

All 3 of Lamberts permanent signings are gone. All three were free transfers and other than Cornell couldn’t have been seen as coming off the back of a great season. I thought Hawkins was a good option given he was cheap, but his lack of opportunity was down to us not playing long ball as a rule and his injury problems, not some kind of injustice. As a Notts lad I wish him and Mansfield a great season.

Blues Linked With Loan Move For Birmingham Striker
at 17:03:27

BeattiesBackPocket… you appear to be delusional about me saying “i want kids in the side”. I’ve been fairly level minded and yes “literal”, as in facts not BS fanciful dreams based on nothing but emotion. I leave the irrational bit for match day. The logic doesn’t work with the narrative on here. Players will only sign for us if they have no better option financially or league status. This means we have to overpay to get better players here. Do you really want a dozen players who only signed for the money? Judge was happy to wave the contract extension…. Whether judge was the right player or not that’s the attitude you want. Do you believe all these new guys will love the club so much they’d give up money to play a few extra games? I despair at the level of delusion on here.

BeattiesBackPocket…. “Back where we belong” that’s the problem, we belong where we are because of results. The sense of entitlement on here is similar to the Manchester City fans and spurs fans( we’ve won the league more recently than them). It’s a sport and we belong where we are or do you think we should get extra points for “history”? If so Huddersfield would be well above us in the “we are a massive club” stakes. Do be the new “massives”…. It’s unseemly

Great move for him. If he’s not a premiership player he’ll be found out under Mick. I however think he has loads of talent and potential and MM will bring it out. Oh for the days of just missing out on the play-offs for the premiership with practically no money. Those who hounded MM out are at least as Responsible for us being in league one as anyone.

Blues Linked With Charlton Keeper Amos
at 12:09:55

Wouldn’t be a terrible signing…. We need strikers more than keepers and I still can’t believe Norwood is one of the untouchables. Comes over as a big time Charlie without the talent. He misses far too many chances, especially one on ones and can’t take penalties.

Only saw the odd live U23 stream the last couple of years and don’t recall if Harry Wright played in any of them, but some may know the answer to this question. Was he poor, average, potentially very good? I was not a fan of Cornell and Holy needs a really good keeper coach but has lots of potential to improve.

I have no issue with this signing but we are going to get rinsed for fees because every club knows we have a big transfer budget if not a big wages budget. No comment on if he wants to come
Here but suspect illegal as it is the club and agent were talking long before. Not sure keeper was a priority, two new strikers, given Norwood and Jackson are not good enough beyond this level and only average at this one.
