The only concern would be that last season was by a long stretch his best, so you wonder if it’s a flash in the pan. If he were younger you’d trust more in his ceiling being higher. Having said that if McKenna rates him and he’s not liable to mistakes on transfers we have to trust him. I’m hoping we have two or three more “exciting” targets whether loans or of the Philogene level permanent deal.

Trying to think of a McKenna signing that has been a failure… perhaps Scarlett from spurs but it was more a case of others playing so well he couldn’t get in the team. Level of inside knowledge & that he would have known it was against the rules.
The fact he clearly doesn’t have a gambling addiction issue makes it worse and it was just a bit of fun.. as he could have simply not done it. I’ve never really been a gambling person except a couple of stag dos at the horses and the odd lottery ticket now and again so can’t really even speak about the enjoyment of non problem betting. Hope he gets a career sorted elsewhere doing whatever pretty soon. |

We don’t know what Hladky was offered by us. There are so many factors to take into account for players in terms of what’s best for their career, financial security, family and general happiness. I can’t think that he doesn’t have his defendable reasons for decisions he making. As for Muric, we are signing a young keeper who’s had a pretty successful career in England so far and has tremendous physical attributes. One good season with us and he could be a £20m plus player, Hladky wouldn’t have that sort of resale value no matter how well he did for us. |

Here we go again… lots of panic and flouncing about things. The world of transfers isn’t any more crazy than it has been.. it’s just as a prem club now, every twitch and slight movement is reported and that’s just to get people clicking. Not accusing Phil or TWTD of this, pretty responsible reporting imho… but that won’t stop over reaction on here. The press in Liverpool seem to think this is holding up philogene’s move to Everton and Some media think Palace are substantially still in the mix…
Chill out. If we don’t get him I’m sure we have potentially just as good targets on the list. Which club always gets their targets? I can think of several occasions where we haven’t and we still scored nearly 100 points a season. |

I don’t doubt such a clause exists or that it doesn’t rely on Hull being in the prem. it’s also possible there is a set figure they would be able to buy him back at if Hull were in the prem. it’s all speculation and I can’t believe how many hissy fits and the abundance of stropping and flouncing is going on. Phil always puts the caveats in if it’s “believed” or “Reported” or “TWTD understands” unless he’s posting irrefutable facts. People need to calm down and imagine as was the case a couple of weeks ago that we weren’t known to be talking to Hull, Man City or any of the players associated.

I’m amazed at how many people on here have had chance to read the agreement documents between Villa and Hull and apparently know Hull have to be in the prem to activate this clause. I’m guessing the buy back clause is a set fee and perhaps that required Hull to be in the prem or perhaps not. This clause appears to be one where they can match any accepted bid. I’m humble enough however to acknowledge I wasn’t involved in the deal and so can’t state as fact any of these things. |

Some on here seem to think players like Johnson and Hutchinson considered absolutely no other option than signing for us… what world do you live in? Hutchinson was a guest at Stuttgart for a game… and that’s unlikely to be even close to the only other option he looked at. Johnson had plenty of offers and I’m sure he weighed them up. Delap isn’t local, he isn’t a Town fan and will have lots of offers, but you think he should crawl over broken glass to sign for us without checking all his options. If he chooses another club it won’t be for any reason than he thinks it’s best for him and his career. |

Anyone talking about his goal scoring record need to stop. Tell me what George Hirst’s goal scoring record was prior to moving to Portman Road? It’s not spectacular since then because the way we play isn’t focussed on a striker being prolific. I’m neither league one or the championship have strikers been our main source of goals, it’s been the three behind the striker.
Also given his next move will be important why shouldn’t the lad investigate all his options.
Technically he’s very good and would fit a McKenna team very well. I would be glad to see him sign and would pick him over the Greek lad who’s never played in English football. |
