Our football was hardly silky then and many felt we were in a false position (although one or two on here couldn't see it); Murphy and Bishop were outstanding mind.
After beating Middlesboro 'with a kid' the Boro fans couldn't believe we were 2nd in the league playing football like that. As you say, we desperately needed to strengthened, but Evans must have felt we had got that far with hard-working journeymen, let's do this on the cheap.

I think if Nathan Rothschild hadn't manipulated all before him the Ind Rev wouldn't have had the necessary capital.

Aye, the UK has done a decent balancing job compared to the nations of the rest of the world.
I'd say it's the future that should give us more cause for concern. Just look at the power Facebook, Amazon and Google are accumulating. We are becoming part of the algorithm and then when our usefulness is over ... |

I'd say in any commercial exchange (including when upgrading implements) profit is a motivation and I don't think Soviet Russia came anywhere near close to reflect a common will.
It's sad to see how the plebs have been manipulated, but any re-set will lead to a new elite and hierarchy.
You'll be seriously depressed if you read Yuval Noah Harari - what's in store. |

if there were no profit motive the Ind Rev wouldn't have happened. This resulted in demographic change which led to social reforms.
Those nations that didn't follow this path are not normally very enlightened.
What you seem to be describing didn't work out very well in the USSR or China, but please elaborate. |

We live in a mixed economy which provides safety nets that can only be dreamed about by many nations. Indeed, it could be argued that socialism has been here since the set-up of the NHS.
0f course, getting that balance right (capitalism/socialism) is why we have political parties. But, as you say, capitalism drives growth which, drives forward social progress. Kinda worryingly those that control AI could widen the gap between have and have-nots in the near future.
I concur, it's not binary, but a bit of a blur. |
