Toenail offside BIN VAR NOW
at 09:51 22 Apr 2024

How clear cut is it though? Can they really accurately tell to the correct frame when the pass has been made and how much error is there if the line was drawn a frame earlier or later? How accurately can these lines actually be drawn?

Feels to me like there should be a margin of error included in decisions and in these cases benefit of the doubt should go to the attacking team. I would say on-field call but they tend to let things play out rather than actually making a decision.

Think that's most of the team mentioned now... Chaplin for me

I will be interested to see if it starts to impact the favourite town player ever question in the end of season TWTD questionnaire.

Way better to be hunted. So many seasons I look back on where I always had the hope of 'if we can just go on a run then we might sneak into 6th'. Get the points on the board when you can and let the other teams worry about hunting.

£6,300 for making 'a gesture' at Al Shabab supporters. Given that he earns that in about two minutes, I don't think he'll be losing any sleep over it.

So, I'd love to see us promoted, don't get me wrong.
at 11:43 26 Feb 2024

Got to get there first, of course.

My view on it though is just enjoy the ride. I thought that when we got promoted to the Championship there'd be first team players that would be replaced but we're sitting in 3rd with the majority of the first XI the same as those that got us promoted. Premier League is a different beast but I'm not putting any limits on this team any more. Think they could surprise a few people.

Anyone watching the Traitors on BBC?

I'd watch that! The episodes would have to be shorter but it would be more like a murder mystery

Strange thing is occasionally we'll go the pub at lunch on a Friday and have a pint with food and not think anything of it but I wouldn't dream of cracking open a non-alcoholic beer in the office

Zero FA cup wins in 6 seasons including against (at the time) non-league Lincoln was a depressing run.

Leif Davis, Aaron Cresswell or Tyrone Mings?
at 16:07 20 Dec 2023

Just out of interest, league games played, goals and assists below from Transfermarkt

Cresswell: P132 G6 A24
Mings: P59 G1 A7
Davis: P64 G3 A25

Bearing in mind 2/3 of Davis appearances are in league 1 and he's currently appearing in a better Town team than either Cresswell or Mings played in, I'd still put Davis as no. 1 while at Town. He reminds me of Cresswell in a lot of ways and if he goes on to have as consistent a Premier League career as him (hopefully at Town), he'll have done well.

Another sporting transgender dilemma…
at 16:36 21 Nov 2023

A lot of the examples given are for elite sport but for me there is a difference participating in sports at a lower level. I don't know exactly what level the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women & Girls League is, but surely if Francesca was disproportionately advantaged then she'd be playing at a higher level. I get the arguments against trans women competing in women's competitions at a professional level and while it doesn't sit comfortably I do lean towards agreeing, but at lower level non-contact and semi-contact sports, just let them play.

PL Manager Salaries
at 16:27 20 Nov 2023

Wow, I new they were highly paid but just had a look and from The Athletic and the highest salary for a college football coach is Nick Saban at Alabama with $11.4m (£9.1m). That would put him above all but 4/5 of the Premier league managers. Average salary for Power 5 schools is $6.2m (£5m) which is still above most PL jobs.

3 options for 3 lions

I think Liverpool would be a bit of a stretch, but something along the lines of Brighton, Aston Villa, West Ham, or Leicester in recent seasons might not be out of reach. There's an opportunity for stabilisation in the Premier League and challenge for Europa/Conference League qualification.

Given the investment in the stadium and training ground I think they are here for the medium term, a few years. Wait until the development of these has reached a certain point and then becomes part of the value for the club for future investors.
