Couple to watch for
at 16:39 26 Sep 2022

I think ipswich are strong all over the park but if I had one criticism of them is that McKenna makes strange subs.
I have read several reports from your games and watched Sunday. He replaced his players who for one reason or another were not 'doing it' for him. Harness had a rhythm of playing 4 hood games and then a couple of bad ones or ones where he disappeared. Cowley got around that by changing shape, this helped Marcus at the time. It seems McKenna doesn't react to the game. Schumacher did against us both and I'm impressed by him. Plymouth have a good manager there.
As for us, we have good players but lose them and after a couple of subs we start to lose something.
Dane Scarlett.
Cowley pulled off a masterstroke getting this lad. His running isn't wasted, you can see he has been coached well. He times his runs perfectly and springs offside traps continuously. He has great pace and is brave. He's got a great future and is scoring goals.
Colby Bishop
He will play slightly deeper with Dane up front and this blunts him a little but 2nd half he'll play higher as we go for crosses into the box and his heading and strength have seen him score 6 already.
Owen Dale
Tricky winger from Blackpool where he never got a chance. He is getting better every game. He has the ability to beat his man or men and provides great crosses from the right.
Josh Koroma
We have had him for just two games and one of those was as sub. He has an assist from the first game and a 'worldie' from the Plymouth game and pompey fans are excited to see if he can keep this up. Plainly to good for league 1. Cowley was at Huddersfield when he was making waves. No brained for him to come to Pompey and its started well.
You have Morsy and we have Pack.
Cracking midfielder, way to good for this league but we got him because pompey is his hometown club. He had multiple offers in championship.
Ogilvie left back
Has been steady at back, great in the air and brilliant got g forward.
Curtis
A class player that gets under opposition skin but I expect him to be on the bench against you. A great player to bring on.

We will look to settle into the game. We have been distinctly second best at Wednesday first half and 1 down but roasted them 2nd half when we exploited space behind their wing backs. If you give us space to get crosses in, pompey can hurt you.
I just hope the occasion doesn't get to them.
Good luck to you after this game and the one at fratton obviously.

Harnesses goal was good!
No it wasn't, it ended 2-2. Well played Barnsley.
Did what they had to do.
Give them credit.
Luck evens itself out.
We got lucky at Vale (ish)
We took a chance and managed the game.
There will be more results that go against you.
Be thankful you enjoy your football this season so far!
2nd isn't bad! 😝
I'm sure you'll come good

Hirst to Blackpool
at 17:37 18 Aug 2022

It seems Pompey made a deal with Blackpool and Leicester.
Blackpool tried to hijack the Bishop deal at the last minute.
Bishop was going to Broomfield until Pompey stepped in with zn alternative. Hirst could've come back to fratton but ipswich would offer more wages. However, we got Bishop and Blackpool gave Hirst championship football.
Leicester were holding out for a fee that ipswich would not pay and in fact changed their or your tact completely by going after Bonne at QPR.
This has act freed the whole situation and consequently come to light. Hirst will, we are hearing in Pompey, join Blackpool

Hurst

We would definitely had him back at pompey.
He had started yo find his feet but he was far from the finished article.
He only scored when we went more direct. His heading was good and instinctively he scored as well but one on one's and general play was very ordinary.
He definitely needs an arm around him to get the best and his confidence when he arrived was shocking.
Is he beginning to be a player. Well he'd failed at every club he went to albeit at Rotherham it was as a sub mainly.
In my opinion he could continue developing and would of at pompey but new surroundings and the pressure to deliver for you may be too much.
Freddie would start for me above Hirst and I've seen him plenty at Plymouth being stationed down there.
£1.5m is alot of money at this level.
I still think Leicester will want to see him in the championship this season before making a decision to let him go. Poor from them and not good for him but that's leicesters call.
Good luck in your chase , he would be more comfortable at league1 than championship right now.

Harness

The low down.
Great player on his day at this level. Should be aiming for championship. He is skilful and can beat multiple men with his close control. He plays as a RM or ad an old fashioned Right Inside forward. Defensively, he is certainly not as quick in the other direction and his crossing leaves alot to be desired but he does have an eye for goal and when in the mood, a game winner.
He has a petulant side and was sent off for kicking out, probably the only time we saw him with a bit of fire in his belly. He isn't someone who is a ball winner and his heading is that on a 50p piece.
Pace to burn going forward, an exciting player who can score a goal but can equally be frustrating
Good luck to you and Marcus for the future .

You won't care

Cook really took his time to get his ideas over football over to pompey!
3 months in fact.
But when it did, we spanked teams home and away.
Stay with him and ride it out until it turns or slay him and get someone in who either doesn't fancy your players and wants his own or can not do it any better.
Splash the cash but you're still behind.
Pompey had cowley for the last 12 games last season, so he knew who he didn't want, wanted to keep and what new players he wanted.
He has played it brilliantly at pompey. 9 from 9 and never really looked like Co ceding so far. Beat what's in front of you
We won't stay there but he is building.
All those clichés, don't run before you can walk Etal. They ring true. Ipswich have really been a costume of somebody real, it doesn't happen overnight.its a long season, stay with him

Another one
at 21:50 9 Aug 2021

As a pompey fan I'm never surprised I've seen it all.
Michael Jacobs must be gutted considering he agreed personal terms with Ipswich and passed a medical. (I was surprised by that mind you, ipswich may want to check their medical procedures)
Paul Cook must do what's right for his present employer and that may be cut throat but that's yhe way of yhe business.
On the other hand it has been a time wasting exercise. It doesn't look good on ipswich.
Given that, the Morrell situation is just another one of those moves by a club. If you sign him , good luck to him and you.
If does make for an interesting atmosphere in Oct for Cook and yourselves at Fritton.ill look forward to the game, certainly pompey will look to not only be vociferous but obviously put one over you.
I notice on the Morrell link that you have as many morons as us. It just makes the game extra interesting.
Good luck in the season apart from against us of course.
This is getting habitual , stop it will you ;-)

Wasn't I the squad that won at Fleetwood today after having a bid for him accepted by another club?
Could this be you?
Ipswich have been admirers recently and spending cash.

He is a good player, maybe even championship level. However, his injury record his scandalous whilst at pompey. In the team for no more than three games in a row before being out for a month or more each time.
If a bit part player is what cookie wants, he's got a good one but longevity to his appearance total stats for the season will show a real bad side

We are not all bitter
at 12:13 28 Jul 2021

Greetings.

The recent spat of accusations from my club about buying the league.
Most fans, in fact probably 99% of pompey fans wish you luck in the new season with the exception of two games vs us.
That being said I remember well our win in the Premier league in the fa Cup final. Many believe we bought that too. Ludicrously I might add, we did balance our books until the unscrupulous owner saddled the club with debt whilst walking off with player sales such as the £22m sale to Real Madrid of Lasana Diarara. It was the fans of our club that were then hurt by the league. Our fall from grace to the very lowest league is well documented. The fans then bought that club and a new idea appeared. We won the league under Paul Cook and entered into league 1. We have had a continuous brush with promotion since. The fans sold the club to take us forward under the stewardship of billionaire Michael Eisner. He promised nothing but good stewardship and a model that wouldn't endanger the club again.eat what you kill to be precise. 99% of pompey fans remain behind this aspect and him.
After a pandemic year or so it goes without question things are tighter this season.
Ipswich have their own leadership and ideas. If the man at the helm provides without endangering your club then I for one am a little jealous.
I always had a soft spot for Ipswich in the 70s with the Whymark, Mills, Cooper, Beattie, Mariner squad under the legend that is Robson. That has remained over the years but certainly not when playing my home city of course.
Having appointed Cook, you already know that he likes to play possession football. It takes time to get it right as we found but he is a good manager if somewhat of a good time man! His signings at pompey were on the whole very good.ive no doubt after the Mccarthy hoofball like our jacket ball it will be much better to watch except when teams just sit for a point. He has only plan a.
On the signing of Edmundson, we'll done. You put your money where your mouth is and we just have to move on. On the potential signing of Chaplin. He is one of our own and never wanted to leave but limited game time under Cook forced Conor to move on. That seems a strange one by Cook who admitted he didn't fit into his style of play. Time will tell on that one.
So, please don't believe the few bitter pompey fans. Have a great season and see where it takes you. Pompey will come good, maybe not this season but our turn will come. We are both natural championship clubs with potential for even higher aspirations.
Regards
