More to come. Very good with the press. A bit sloppy with the ball.

Looks like a player that can really be 'coached'.

Leif has always been at his best charging down the wing. I felt our tactics in the first lot of games did him no favours.

Excellent first half, we look a real threat going forwards

Nunez has looked VERY classy. We've got three really top midfielders.

Cajuste is class, but I imagine he'll have a few games rotated with Nunez.

Yeah, I think with Akpom it will be a case of playing him in a variety of positions to see what clicks.

I think we now settle with that back five.

Matu plus one.

Front four there's places up for grabs.

Played himself into the starting lineup unless he's awful second half.

Hirst
at 07:10 5 Sep 2025

There's obviously a very good player in Hirst, but I thought he was a mixed bag against Derby. His first touch at times was way off and he was having to go two yards to retrieve the ball.

Akpom is obvious quality, and Azon comes with, potentially, a very high ceiling.

It will be an interesting one.

Morsy should be there as the captain of a back to back promotion team.

The McKenna baseline
at 09:08 2 Sep 2025

I think that perhaps McKenna, especially at this level, is an excellent manager and set a strong baseline for other managers to aspire to achieve.

Two years on and I think that's exactly what's happening. We're seeing some very good, young managers coming through.

We evolve again and I'm here for the ride.

Don't forget the three Paul's and how far we've come.

Some concern/questioning about McKenna is definitely warranted

I'm watching the game late.

Phases where we look excellent. Phases where we look a little off. Fully expected with the changes.

I'm not worried at present.

What time have games been uploaded? I've got to get the kids new shoes so can't watch live.

I think it's shaping up to be an excellent window.

Quality, experience and youth potential all bought in.

Last week is where lots of business gets done. Judge the transfer window after Monday.

It's the instant gratification era.

We had two excellent seasons and then just lacked a bit of premier league footballing nous in some games. But people forget where we were and how far we've come in such a short time.

That's not without some reservations though, and nor should it be.

But again, three league games into the season with a week of transfer activity to come. As I've said before with previous managers, let's see how we're doing come end of October.

Football on TV
at 09:53 25 Aug 2025

I still enjoy watching games, but I think a lot of teams are so governed by XG data, that some of the spontaneity within play has dropped. Case in point was our game against Preston. We tried the same thing over and over when what it needed was a maverick to start running straight at their back line.

Agreed. I said elsewhere that at times his short passes are also a bit lazy, leaving the team mate to sort it out.

Cajuste looked very classy when he made his cameo.

We've not been the same since Burns got injured. His runs behind, even though he didn't always get the ball, always had defenders worried.

I think Mati has been good.

Taylor needs to learn to pass with his left foot. There's also times where the pass he chooses isn't a 'kind' pass and makes his team mate work harder than they should to control it.

It's all foreplay and no penetration at the moment.

Kipre - Highly regarded centre back at this level.
Matusiwa - Strong midfield enforcer which we needed. 4-5 years at Ligue 1 level.
Cajuste - Excellent footballer.
Button - Third choice, experienced goalkeeper that will also act as a coach.
Young - Very experienced. View to a probable coaching position.
Akpom - Good player at this level.
McAteer - I think this is a shrewd signing at this level. The price makes peoples eyes pop, but the Broadhead fee mostly covers it.

And there's still 10 days of the window left where a lot of movement always happens.

We're in the age of instant gratification and it's bleeding into fans desires for newer and better. McAteer hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet and is already being written off. New system, surroundings and management team might really help push him on.
