Completely this. I'm intrigued by what players that we needed were going to come to a team that was in League 1 a year earlier. In the end we were sensible with our recruitment, which as you rightly say are with the long-term in mind. |
 | Forum Reply | Worst refs in the Premier League at 18:53 27 Apr 2025
I try to avoid piling in on refs as they have a tough job and we need them or else there's no game. However, I don't think I will ever fathom how Robinson didn't give that penalty against Leicester and even more that VAR didn't get him to check it. |
 | Forum Reply | What does it take to keep Cajuste? at 18:40 27 Apr 2025
Possibly O'Shea, Burgess, etc, although with no disrespect to Ireland and Australia they are perhaps more likely to pick players from outside the Premier League. Still, it may play on their minds when deciding their future in the summer. |

Both Cajuste and Delap will have what they believe to be a genuine chance to be at the World Cup next year. Neither would jeopardise that by hiding away in the Championship, especially as they will get offers from top flight teams. And even with my bluest of blue-tinted glasses I wouldn't expect them to. |

Semi-finals need moving from Wembley. It dilutes the achievement of getting to the final and there are so many suitable stadiums to hold them all over the country. |
 | Forum Reply | Joe Hart's comment about Johnson's yellow card at 13:54 27 Apr 2025
I couldn't really understand what he was going on about. He seemed to be saying that Johnson wasn't diving but that a yellow there was correct. I get that it wasn't a free-kick, but surely that should've sufficed. Especially when all season we've been watching opponents throwing themselves to the floor and not only getting away without a yellow but invariably getting the free-kick. All academic of course, but taps into the incredibly bad luck we've had this season. |

I see lots of parallels with us. Years in the doldrums, rescued by owners who seem to genuinely care and now enjoying some extraordinary times that I don't imagine they would've thought possible just 3 or 4 years ago. [Post edited 26 Apr 22:21]

 | Forum Reply | I'd be worrying about myself quite frankly...... at 21:41 26 Apr 2025
We did the same when they got relegated from the Premier League and we were nowhere even getting there. It was a silver lining for us when we had nothing else and so it is for now. What has occurred to me during the debate on the 17 established PL sides getting further away is that they had ample opportunity to be one of those. As frustrated as we are at that gap it must be even more frustrating for them that they missed a fantastic opportunity to be in that group. That said, don't rule them out giving it a much better shot next season. |
 | Forum Reply | When did you lose faith in survival? at 19:39 26 Apr 2025
Southampton at home. We know how hard it is to pick up points in this division and this was as close to a gimme for 3 points that you'll get at this level and we blew it. It's not even as if Southampton played a blinder. Their confidence was on the floor, passes going astray all over the place and so easy to open up. If we'd played with the intensity that we have summoned up against the top teams then that would've been a comfortable afternoon, boosted our confidence and changed the discourse of the second half of the season. First time I've been angry with an Ipswich team for years. |
 | Forum Reply | Watching Arsenal Palace at 21:25 24 Apr 2025
If Wolves or Everton had made a mess of their managerial appointments or Palace had got an itchy trigger finger after that bad start and fine margins gone our way then it wasn't beyond the realms of possibility that we might have snuck into 17th. I also what might have happened if we'd had Palace or Wolves at home in the first couple of games before they'd sorted themselves out. Rather than the Liverpool & Man City games that were an exciting welcome back but instantly put us on the back foot. On its own an opening day win wouldn't be the difference between us surviving or not, but the confidence it would've given us and a continuation of our momentum, rather than all that "Ipswich still searching for their first Premier League win in 22 years" nonsense that continued for months. Ultimately though we haven't been good enough though. |
 | Forum Reply | Rupert Lowe is having a pop at us.. at 20:55 24 Apr 2025
I don't agree with this being done, one of the reasons being because it fuels the racists. However, I understand why it's being done. That it is aiming at levelling up for groups of people underrepresented in coaching due to them historically having been deprived those opportunities directly and indirectly. And I applaud the club for trying to achieve to that. Like I said though, I'm not convinced this is the right way to go about it. |
 | Forum Reply | Burnley vs Sheffield United at 18:19 21 Apr 2025
Problem is, as with us, Leicester and Southampton, who would join them that would make a difference? Hopefully one of them has established some decent overseas scouting networks since they were last in the PL. |
 | Forum Reply | PL - 2 tiers at 18:17 21 Apr 2025
Really hoping one of them can stay up though, for English football's sake if not our own if we come straight back up. |
 | Forum Reply | Norwich at 17:50 21 Apr 2025
To be fair Evans put his money where his mouth was in getting managers that we might not ordinarily have got. It's just a shame that he wasn't very good at picking them and/or backing them! |
 | Forum Reply | Norwich at 17:39 21 Apr 2025
I remember Farke's first season going like this, so don't be surprised if they are more competitive next season. One thing that has occurred to me during these debates of the 17 established Premier League teams pulling further and further away from the promoted teams is that Norwich could well have been one of those teams if they'd played their cards right. Whilst they were yoyoing and then slumping to their current situation, peers and similarly sized clubs like Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham, etc have really grown in leaps and bounds. As much as we're frustrated with the situation and Norwich fans will rightly be gleeful about it, I'd be far more frustrated if I was one of their fans with what could've been. | Forum Reply | At least we won’t have Leeds to play next season at 17:06 21 Apr 2025
Best case scenario for us if Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United go up. And good on 'em. For all that of course we reveled in their setbacks last season as it meant promotion for us, unless it is at our expense or it is Norwich I enjoy getting to this stage of the season and watching fans celebrating promotion or securing safety. It's quite warming really. [Post edited 21 Apr 18:06]
