Brentford usually promote from within. They know him and what he's capable of and if they think he's capable of doing the job then why go through the expense and effort of chasing and nabbing a manager who hasn't proved himself at Premier League level from another club?
What, Greaves who is 5 years younger than Burgess and already one of the best in the Championship, who started for us really well before injury and (circumstances allowing) will only get better with us?
I'm sad to see Burgess leave and had hoped to get another couple of years out of him, but that actually seems sensible business to me.
If we keep having seasons like this one and the one before, then fans will turn off and they'll struggle to keep fattening their bank balances. They can't just keep going like they are.
I would've preferred Carsley and then when he didn't want it we should've done all we could do to get Howe.
However, it's too early to judge Tuchel. Whilst I'm not convinced that his management skills will transfer to international football, he may well come good and if he does we should be phenomenal!
You'd have to an abysmal manager to allow any of the established 17 get relegated and as we know he's certainly not that! Also an opportunity to build something with relatively managed expectations.
Hopefully though he realises he has a project being built around his every need here and an even bigger potential here if we get things right in the long-term.
I have no problem with Wrexham. In fact I empathise with them somewhat as like us they spent years in the doldrums and also like us are enjoying some good times.
Why can't owners not look beyond just the last season? If Levy was in charge at Ipswich or Man Utd Bobby Robson and Alex Ferguson and the like would've been gone after a season or two.
Interestingly I'd heard that Leeds were hoping to sign him.
Obviously don't know if that was true, but if it is it further underlines how difficult it is going to be for the promoted teams to get the players they want when competing with the established 17.
