Yep. It needs to stop, but it is hard to see it stopping with such pressures.

Taking my boy to his first match at Lincoln - tips wanted!

Have sweets, treats, etc to hand in case the noise gets a bit much. Or whatever else soothes him. Just in case.

No matter the result tomorrow please don’t boo cook and the team...

As someone who lost his father last year, I can entirely sympathise with PC. Nothing else really matters in those immediate week or two.

However, if the players put in another performance like against Bolton, they surely deserve it. Fair enough, PC deserves our sympathy, but not sure why that means the players deserve to be let off because their boss' father has died.

That said, hopefully none of this will be an issue as we'll all be celebrating three points for Town tomorrow.

How long before football gets to grips with it being down to players being paid too much and transferred too much? Heck, even Barcelona can't balance the books.

Didn't the Bolton manager say he wished he could sign our players last week? Think you'll find it's standard managers niceties. If he went the other way and said we'll be pushovers it would only risk motivating our players. Although after the last week I'd say there's not too much danger of that.

COOK IN!
at 17:50 15 Sep 2021

Agree that Cook needs more time, but not much of the rest of it I'm afraid.

Write off this season? This club, this squad, no matter how much bedding in it needs should be aiming for the play-offs AT LEAST. Indeed, those players coming to join us from the Championship have been insistent that L1 is for one season only.

Unprecedented? Hardly. As others have pointed out, even just this season, Morecombe have got 19 new players in, as well as changing manager and being at a higher level the they've ever been, yet seemed to have coped. Haggling over exactly how many players from last season teams like Wigan have started with in their games doesn't disguise that they also largely have a squad of strangers, as well as a manager with far less managerial experience than Cook, yet they've also coped just fine.

We're also nothing like Watford (sadly in many ways as they have been very successful with the model you so deride). Phil has regularly said that Cook is fully involved in the players coming, Cook himself has too and many of the players have come in because Cook has worked with them successfully in the past. This is very much Paul Cook's side.

However, getting rid of Cook would be counterproductive right now. Players are bedding in (although not using last night's game to help do that largely negates that reasoning) and it is unsurprising that we have started slowly. We were warned about that. And Bolton aside (which was disgraceful), we have been unlucky not to have a win or two under belts in the league and I feel you can see where things have been coming together. Needs to happen faster though!

To be honest, just being in this competition (still) is the low point.

It's not just that though. After allowing him to get this squad together, he should be given more than a handful of games to work with them.

Mainly on the fact that they are his players and they clearly have a lot of respect for and confidence in him and that he has been there and done it before.

He is no less likely to get the best of them then yet another previously successful manager who everyone clambers for and then within months call for their head because things aren't going well.

I'm fast losing faith, but I just don't think simply getting another manager in will magically make things better.

In theory, yes. But a large chunk of it is made up of players who have dropped down a level or come here to specifically play for him. I'm not saying they'd down tools for someone else, but I'd be more confident of Cook getting something out of them then someone else completely. Then they'd likely to get different players in during January, more upheaval, more gelling. Cook's just got to sort it out and stop being so stubborn.

I don't really care whether we win or lose in it. I'm also supportive of Cook, I think with the investment that has been made under his watch it I can't see that him going would make things better. However, he had a chance to get some much needed game time in for his first 11 and possibly a moral boosting win and passed on it. He can't use gelling as an excuse if he doesn't take every chance for them to gel. That is what I'm most annoyed about with this.

Just one year. That was all I wanted. One year.
at 19:22 12 Sep 2021

Don't think I've seen a post that sums it up better. I've calmed down a little from yesterday and my overriding feeling is that of resignation. I just wanted to have a season where I haven't got to politely smile at the jokes about ITFC, even if they are just bantz. Just to feel chuffed about supporting Ipswich, to have some hope. I thought that this season would at least offer that. I thought we'd recruited players specifically for their fight, but there was none of that for the entire second half yesterday. I can put up with losing, even to various teams that were non-league nonentities not all that long ago, especially as I felt it was gradually moving to something better. But I can't accept what I saw yesterday, it is just more that same feeling of... resignation. We've just found a more entertaining way of disappointing.

Took my middle son for his first match two years ago and he hasn't watched us win yet. Admittedly most of that he hasn't been able to go due to Covid, but still, it's a long time to sustain a young child's interest without any sign of victory. He's already more excited by Ronaldo's return then anything that we are serving up.

Was pleasantly surprised. Considering he was the player I was least excited about when I heard the line-up, he was far better than almost all his teammates. Although that isn't saying much.

Like most of the previously successful managers that have come here in the last 15 years then.

No, fair point, might have kept Wilson. But still wouldn't have put ahead of today's pairing. Might do now.

Defensively there is no one we let go that I would've preferred to keep, but that was dire today, an absolute joke. There is no lack of ability, but there is something missing from an attitude perspective. No one really gets stuck in, for all the talk of "Running into adversity", there seem to be lots of running from it today. Simply rolled over.

I do wonder what Holy makes of it all. I didn't think he did too badly and now he's third fiddle to these jokers.

I wasn't expecting 100 points 100 goals or anything else. I've generally been pretty understanding over the last few weeks, could see where things were improving, thought bar a bit of bad luck we'd probably have had a few wins under our belt. But that was a proper throwback to the last 10-15 years, something we've already experienced too much of. I was hoping those days were behind us.

"Running into adversity?" They seem to run away from it at the first sign. What the hell were they doing over those two weeks? Enough is enough. No more excuses. Other teams have had big overhauls and got going. Sort it out Cook.

I like how we all erased last season from the history books at the end of it...
at 20:55 22 Aug 2021

Cook came in to a bunch of players that he didn't select for whom the three wins before Lambert went probably not much more than an anomaly from a squad of players that had consistently failed for two seasons and largely coming to the end of their useful football lives. They weren't going to get any better as a collective and I would've been staggered if they had continued on their form to the end of the season on the basis of what they had previously shown, regardless of whether Paul Lambert, Paul Cook, Danny Cowley or Pep Guardiola had been in charge.

This is a team that has no previous history together and so can't be judged on a handful of games. Importantly, they are players that Cook wanted and who came here to play for Cook. Of course they may not get any better, but there is a chance they might, unlike last season's bunch.
