It's Ok God will save me, and me, and me, he'll save us all...

I don't think this stupid attitude of ignoring the current rules and guidelines is something that is caused by religion. It's just that there is lots of this stupidity and the ones highlighted here happen to be highlighting their stupidity by still going to worship, despite the vast majority of religious institutions shutting down across the globe.

For those with children at home...

I'm working upstairs so my wife has been carrying the load, but I came downstairs at lunchtime to find her and our 5-year-old son doing yoga and we've actually been trying to stop him doing the work he's been set by school too quickly! Not sure how long that'll last though...

What's the ultimate aim with all these measures?
at 19:07 16 Mar 2020

Not just here, but worldwide. This isn't a criticism as its clear we have to do all we can to slow the growth of it. But surely eventually everything and everyone is going to have to come out of isolation and aren't we just going to be met with the same risk? There isn't likely to be a vaccine until next year, so this isolation won't eradicate it.

Is it just that once enough people have had it and become self-immune (as I understand it) that it would be easier to control. Surely we can't go on like this until a vaccine?

With the caveat that football very much isn't the main issue of coronavirus...
at 17:19 13 Mar 2020

...and that the decision to suspend football is entirely the right on in the circumstances, it is another depressing aspect of arguably the most depressing season of football I can ever recall.

Although if we were having a good season I'd probably be even more upset from a footballing perspective!

I really hope it helps stem the spread of the disease.

How would you solve the upcoming fixture scheduling crisis?
at 13:43 13 Mar 2020

Euro 2020 has to be postponed for a start, as the season has to finish if possible. It would be inconceivable that Liverpool could be denied the title, nor would it be fair to Leeds and WBA or indeed Coventry that they have mount promotion bids all over again.

Players may have to join the real world at some point and play 2 or maybe even 3 games a week.

In England I'd also be tempted to scrap the League Cup next season and start the league a few weeks later.

However, of course that may end up not being possible depending on how this all goes.

I have no idea. Managers with oodles of experience and promotions on their CVs have failed here under Evans. An up and coming manager with a good track record (although I was always keener on Jack Ross than Paul Hurst) has failed here under Evans. Frankly why not, he couldn't do worse than almost all of the managers appointed by Evans.

Mick sure did hold us together
at 19:33 7 Mar 2020

We were stagnant with Mick. There was no hope of anything changing. It was time for him to go. I think most realised that there was a chance things would get worse, but also a chance things might get better. Sadly they've got worse (and much worse at that) but that is because of the decisions taken post-Mick, not getting rid of Mick who wasn't going to be around forever and likely would've gone when the Ireland job came up anyway.

Actually yes. I wish he'd not bothered in the first place and I didn't feel obliged to put myself through this.

We've just lost at home to Coventry with a whimper whilst giving it a go for maybe half an hour. Yet some are talking as if we've narrowly lost to Liverpool.

I think he’ll resign tonight

Why would he? This is clearly the end of him as a manager and he's got a five-year contract to rinse as much money out of possible.

I really wish Mick Mccarthy was still our manager (n/t)
at 21:18 1 Mar 2020

I want us to do well of course. But I'm depressed and angry at this. Under McCarthy I felt nothing. It was complete and utter apathy. ITFC might as well not existed.

The only hope from this is that we must reach a breaking point and something fundamentally changes, whether that be Evans trying harder to find a buyer, him changing his approach, Lambert going and us somehow finding a hidden gem of a manager, Lambert deciding to do something different, whatever that may be. Under Mick, nothing was ever going to change. It would have just stayed like that for years and years and eventually Mick would've left anyway. I prefer to have hope, however slim it is.

Ideal world.

Lambert goes. Evans finds a buyer.

Neither is going to happen.

Therefore, our only hope of salvaging anything from this season is to beat Fleetwood on Tuesday which would take us above them, 2 points behind play-offs (albeit teams above with games in hand).

I know it is all over but its a slither of hope. Anything less than a win and that really is the very end.

It won't be another year. It'll be years. If we don't go down to League 2 in the meantime.
